I think my temp might have:

Croc Tooth Dagger + Malice

Aparantly when you activate them, they can both be used in off hand, which ever you want?

Assuming VOS is still correct for this:
CTD = 3.5 speed
Malice = 4.1 speed

Based on speed it would be better for Malice to go in the main hand slot, but.. some people have told me malice is better as an off hand. Is this true or could it just be cos they presumably use it with Battler on main hand?

Also, if i went with CTD Main (and activated pierce), could I then use pierce styles even though Malice is in the off hand slot as a blades weapon?

Spec will proberly be high CD (like 39 or 44), if that makes a difference with the off hand'er :)

Thanks

You dont style with your off hand, the styles will all be used on your mainhand attack so you are correct :) But you will need to be split spec (pierce and blades i.e. 44CD , 35 pierce, 35 blades ) otherwise you will have horrible variance on the weapon you arent speced in. Cant say i would recommend it as a ranger. BM's can get away with it but you will have to give up alot of pathfinding,bow or steath to achieve it.

You are better off with a faster off hand malice is too slow.

Eeeek.. You're informed totally wrong Im afraid. Quick pointers:

* Both your mainhand and offhand should be of the damage-type you specced for : Blades (or Pierce). Mixing is just gimping yourselves.

* Your mainhand should be slower then your offhand, cba to explain why, just take that for granted. CTD main, Malice off would be like loosing 15-20% dps flat-out

If you go Blades-spec, the preferred weaponlayout(s) could be:

Malice main, Croc-tooth dagger (activated as Blades) offhand
Malice main, Championweapon offhand (Blades)
Malice main, Battler offhand (Blades)

You should always aim for Malice-mainhand, simply because your mainhand will always swing when you style, and the proc on Malice is too good.

Thats ok I understand that, just didn't understand whether it was worth it to swap it over, and didn't know about the diff in damage type on off being a problem.

Thanks for the info all, helps alot :)

well, before i respeced pierce --> blades (and while i was xping malice and battler), i used golden spear mainhand and malice offhand with a spec like 44pierce 34cd. the offhand hits were somewhere in range of 50-70 dmg

with full blades, malice mainhand and champweap offhand, my offhand hits for like 95-140 on yellow mobs

so it is quite a problem to use an offhander you are not speced for, but might worth it if the proc is good and has a high proc rate
