I don't think insta ML10 is a good idea, sorry.

I would possibly change the way artifacts are done as they are not so much a time sink as a nightmare for the casual player as they are ridiculously camped. Some people relentlessly camp certain artifacts so they can sell them for a lot of money, which is very detrimental to the casual player.

Artifact levelling is getting changed, which is a good thing but I think Mythic should go further and do something to alleviate the situation with greedy, selfish people that thrive in situations like that.

mythic could impose a selt ammount that artifacts and scrolls can be sold for when on CMs, this will stop greedy people from farming them.

found a house once with a 8 scroll (the same ones) for 1plat each, and next door someone else was selling the same scrolls (8 of them) for 20 gold.

worst is if they have lots for 1g and then suddenly a few of them cost 1p, can fool you pretty easy :) pretty popular to do this with return tokens

Well i would agree, making the game easier for casual players would benifit the game a lot, my reasons for this are :-

Have any of you currant lvl 50s ever tried getting a group at lvl 10+?
Starting with a charicter with no money
Having no "Buff Bot"
Having no guild
Having no high lvl friends to help you out.

I Left the game about 2yrs ago now and ive just come back with new account and started from lvl 1, and oh boy what an absolute ball ache it is to lvl your char solo even as a necromancer its just plain boring, the only reason i carried on was because i knew it got better when RvR comes (Well so I thought as any RvR past thidranki is non existent this is from an albian point of view).

The whole point of this post is its kind of annoying when currant lvl 50s go on about how "easy" the game currantly is well.... yes your right it is easy if your alts start at 20 and with about 5 plat passed along with an uber buff bot waiting to buff you all the way to thidranki.

No flames at anyone in perticular just some observations ive made since returning to Daoc.

Cya

Hey albs lets forget about your "uber infil alts" in Thidranki and go take some proper keeps eh?

it is easier than it used to be to level up - even without the 1.71 changes

at least in theory - the lack of people to group with makes it trickier but I think most importantly is a lack of patience- everyone is rushing to get into RvR.

Back when I levelled up RvR was something you could do at level 21 ;) (as in real RvR) and you took your time levelling. Getting to 50 was the big goal in sight.

Now there's a lot more after 50 so I guess the road just got longer.... 1.71 puts a lot in to reduce the first steps along it, but if they start making MLs trivial it removes a lot of "things to do" from the game - not everyone wants to RvR all the time (or even at all in some cases)

I think Mythic are missing a trick here. Look at all the work people go through to get ML 10 etc - now when you get bored of your character or it eats the nerf bat, then you would want to re-roll (maybe). Pre-TOA this wasn't a problem. What are people gonna do now? - go through TOA all again? Unless they have a tight knit group of in game friends who will PL them through TOA they are going to quit.
Or perhaps stop being so lazy and run the raids you need/have sum1 run them for you if youre not capable?

ML raids aren't that hard to organise - usually get far too many people if anything. :p Artifacts on the other hand.... :p

they should do the same with RPs - I can't be arsed going to emain and earning my RRs on my second characters i want them for free.

Its not about can't be arsed..its the the time in which it takes...Do you work Shifts ?

When i play its early morning or late at night ( very late ) so im not able to join the main raids thats needed. If me or me and a duo partner could do the ML's fair enough , but we cant. They make it so you have to zerg, and its something that we really cant do.

Im not a rvr whore wanting something for free , far from it. Before toa i was 90% PvE. Highest rr char i have is rr4. I used to love pve and still do , but simply do not , and will not have the time to join such raids , therefore im not able to achieve masterlevel 10 and enjoy the game as it needs to be played.

Ive already mentioned a solo / duo route , of course i dont want ML10 totally free , but having played since release id atleast expect to be able to compete in the game , in the past ive done things with small grps and got everything i wanted at a time suitable for us , now its not possible.

People keep saying ML's arent worth it , why then is 99% of the whines on FH about ML's.. :twak:

Have you considered that you might be playing the wrong genre of game? I have been asking this question quite a lot recently because it seems that many people are dissatisfied with the way things are at the moment despite DAoC hardly being unique in terms of its requirements. If you can only play sporadically for short periods or at strange hours (very early / very late) then you are going to struggle to get to the top end because getting there requires the cooperation of a number of people for a given length of time. You either have to accept this fact and be content to do without or stop playing and do something else.

giving ppl ml10 for free on all chars wont work as then new ppl wont be abel to get enough ppl to get the mls them selfs but they should make all mls easyer or alteast less time consuming as many causal players or others aswell dont have the time they need to make a char usabel in rvr.

the changes in 1,71 might be very nice but afaik they wont change much in the ml section just the arti one. i for one have allot of troubble getting my mls on my drood as im currently trying to studdy and play some at the same time, even tho i have a few hours each day i can put into the game the main problem is that most raids takes a hell of allot of time or is on the days i cant play due to having early classes or lots of work to do.

as for what what Breon said about "the game having very little challenge as it is" it dont have anything to do with ml's as they are all quite simple exept a few ones and usualy you just zerg it with 3x the ppl you need anyway :> but thats not the part that makes it such a pain or impossibel for some its the time you must spend to do them. like farming the swords and crap for ml3 and waiting for pop of some silly mob who got killed just before the raid or wait for ld's(not much u can do about that tho)

The nature of DAoC changed with the advent of ToA. Whether that is for the good or for the bad is arguable and depends very much on your perspective.

Before one could have a viable RvR endgame character with the minimum of contact with other players. Most characters could solo, albeit at different speeds, and get to 50. With CM's and player crafter's to be found you could outfit your character nicely enough and go enjoy RvR.

Not now however. The Trials of Atlantis, which are supposed to test a characters worthiness for great abilities are, really, zergfests which require hours and hours of time. Artifacts are an arms race that you *need* if you want to stay viable in RvR ... more so if you are a stealther or soloer, but all classes benefit by the goodies.

People that want to be competitive but don't have hours of free time to devote to a game have to decide what is important to them. As I sat bleary eyed through ML 3 for the fourth time on a different level 50 toon I decided that enough was enough with master levels. As I farmed the 10 plat needed for the last scroll to activate my stealth artifact (forget it's name, was 4+ months ago!) I realised I'd had enough of the whole ToA concept.

If you are one of those people that enjoys ML zergs and spending hours camping and levelling artifacts then that's great. But don't pretend DAoC was always like that ... it became EQ overnight.

Could do every ML with less than 3fg if you were optimised enough.

3fg's are alot of peopel at 01:00 cet or around 12:00 cet...... TOA just plain suck monkey ass for peoepl who dont play " reg hours "

I dont want to HAVE TO join a zerg to get my ML's done.... they should put in an option for a fg and scale the encounter after what encounter type your picking , or make em all like the ML2.7 thingy ( pick your poison ) where you can choose to do it solo , fg or bg style........

And you're in for a shock if you believe MLs will be as effective in NF as they are now... a very big shock. :(

Even people who are artifacted out, ML10, RR10 whatever are reduced to being zerg fodder

Giving free ML10 out ? No thank you. Why don't we just start off all newbies at level 50 ML10 R10L10 and be done with it ?

The whole point of playing the game in the way in which it is currently structured is that its fun.

Bottom line : if you're not having fun, perhaps its time to move on..?

what do you call primetime ?? .. I work tuesday to saturday from 17.00 cet to 05.00 cet... So no weekend raids either for me . sure I prob could have a ML9 char if I'd set that as my primary goal , but that would have ment absolutely no fun/hunting/RvR'ing with guildies on my days off.. ML10 .. I dont think so .. think I seen.. like what ??? 3 ML10 raids max since we got TOA , all of em friday or saturday's , when most peopel can attend.

Ehh if the Trials are supposed to test the characters mettle.. why the hell arent they -solo- trials?

right now theyre "testing the mettle of 8 people, to a guilde up to 150 people", doesnt make a lot of sense that does it. If its meant to be testing the mettle of the realm.. well .. Eh the trials could have been a whole lot better designed, the lines better thought out and the returns for the effort a whole lot better implemented.

As for NF, couple of lines will become hugely important, others will be relegated to even less worth. If you can drop healing/power nodes you`ll be happy, summoning wood might be useful, dropping mines and speedwarps and stuff like that will be handy. The rest.. well, welcome to to Dark Ages of Rangealot.

Trials are mixture of solo, group and battlegroup - that means it not only tests how well your character can deal with things himself, but also how well you use your abilities as a part of larger groups. I think the mix is actually a really good idea. Some of the trials are excessively broken and stupid though, but the core concept of having solo, group and BG trials is a good one.

Industry 'ignoring' casual gamers. DAoC is hardly casual gamer friendly, however some of the changes coming in 1.71 are quite nice.

Those who work in the evenings (such as Damon_D), do face problems attending master level raids. I work 3 evenings a week and I'm usually bowling one evening a week too. Considering the majority of raids require 2fg or more, and that most raids occur during the evening then this is quite a problem.

One way around this is to either give your account details to someone else so they can run your character for you, which you have to rely on someone you can trust. The other possibility is to organise your own master level raids at a time which you can lead.

Anything to make the game slightly easier would help.

Nope I actualy try and join any ML raids that I need.. If I should be so lucky there actualy is one, on my days off, but I also xp , farm , RvR , and generaly have fun with guildies on those 2 days.. or atleast I try to cram all that into those 2 days , besides the fact that I actualy have a RL with friends and family that has to be crammed into my days off work too .... So now YOU set up a scheldue where u might have 1 day a week if ya lucky to do your ML's if ya lucky enough there is a raid you actualy need , and tell me its piss easy to get ML's done fast...........
I Guesse it IS piss easy for peopel with NO RL / no job's / no family , who live there life in-game , and congrats on that........
