Making it easier for casual players ?

Anyone else think it would be a good idea to implement some sort of system so that if you get to ML 10 with 1 character , the rest of the characters from the same realm on that account will automatically be given ML 10 on dinging 50 or perhaps another ' short ' quest instead of having to do them with every other character.

I consider myself a casual player and often played 5-6 chars before toa running 3-4 accounts with my brother , we've both yet to get 1 of them to any decent master level due to not having the time. Would certainly make it more fun for myself and the game would actually become interesting again , yes people will say that ' more master levels = more time = more subs.. But im planning on closing all 4 accounts permanently as its not fun playing a non toa'ed char at all these days.

Played since release and its a sad day when im thinking about quitting the game ive played for so long :(

Thoughts ?

In one way the ToA timesinks (ml's, getting artifacts, scroll farming, artifact exping) are good - they makes you concentrate more on one (or maybe 2) character(s), making you a better player at that class :)

I don't think insta ML10 is a good idea, sorry.

I would possibly change the way artifacts are done as they are not so much a time sink as a nightmare for the casual player as they are ridiculously camped. Some people relentlessly camp certain artifacts so they can sell them for a lot of money, which is very detrimental to the casual player.

Artifact levelling is getting changed, which is a good thing but I think Mythic should go further and do something to alleviate the situation with greedy, selfish people that thrive in situations like that.

MLs suck anyway, fix the way artifacts are, imo :p As has been said, they are ridicoulusly overcamped, scrolls drop too seldom/have funny prices on CMs, etc...

Having you focus on one char for rvr is good in one way (you learn that class well) but it is bad in the way that rerolling class is much, much harder now. And with such big changes incoming, lots of ppl will "need" to reroll, so it is a big problem in general.

The only people that would help are the Plvl crew, I think the majority of 'casual' players these days (I include myself in this group, though I don't think with 4 accounts you do tbh :eek7: ) are doing the ML's as they level up. Since starting at lvl42 with my RM i've made 2 levels and am currently 4% away from finishing ML3 (also got all ML4 credit barring 4.10 :D) - i'm also trying to get RR2L5 so I can get the free level (currently 2l2, I need more people to invade Odin's so I can leech ARPEH! :p).

So yeah, bad idea.

Even worse it would hurt casual/new players. What reason would an ML10 account players have for doing the ML's again? Currently one of the reasons ML raids are doable is because of the MLxp required to get higher ML's - as such people don't mind redoing ML's. If they don't have a reason to redo them why would they?

Timesinks =/= challenge.

Perhaps make it so that for every ML10 you have, you get 2 'bonus' ML leves when you start a new one. When you've done ML10 five times, you'll get the last three characters for free. By that time you'll be so sick of wasting time on it.. ;P

Right. And by THAT time you´ll realise, that a MMORPG is not the right game for you.
I`m a casual player myself and will probably never get all my ML´s, artis, scrolls, RR`s etc. but that´s how the game works. If I want quick success and fair and even groud to all the powergamers, I`ll switch to Diablo or something.

Master Levels are really quite pointless, they're just nice little extras, unless you have the option of getting powerwards etc.

In NF the only abilities that even matter are stuff like speedwarp (stupid idea again Mythic) the entire battlemaster line, apart from Bodyguard is nerfed (faultfinder now hits for around 15 damage) so for a lot of classes there's no point even bothering.

As for having fun... well I don't have TOA on my EU account, infact since my skald only just hit 50 he's running around in his epic but I can still beat people a higher RR than me solo. Obviously I plan on getting TOA when I can actually find a copy, but for now I'm still having fun.

Well, i once had a similar idea for crafting.. since one character is very limited in what he can craft due to the 75%/40% whatever rules it would be nice to get tradeskills on all characters.

Say for example you have a lgm armourcrafter 1150 and you'd like to weaponcraft too, then you can get to about 800 on that character. say you make another character to continue crafting on, but you're already on that 800 (also has the 1150 armourcraft) and can continue there as long as that character is designated a weaponcrafter.

Just hate switching characters to do every craft. Sure there's a lot of other people that feel that the accomplishments of crafting need to be shared out, maybe even make them account based so when you start in another realm/server you could take them along.

crafting is hell anyway, let's reward those that do it by making it more rewarding to do.

I think Mythic are missing a trick here. Look at all the work people go through to get ML 10 etc - now when you get bored of your character or it eats the nerf bat, then you would want to re-roll (maybe). Pre-TOA this wasn't a problem. What are people gonna do now? - go through TOA all again? Unless they have a tight knit group of in game friends who will PL them through TOA they are going to quit.

Its similar in function to the BG free levels, when you've participated in a merchent keep raid (and taken it) you get a quest entry, then if you get RR2L5 you get a free medal. This only works up to level 45 mind you (so i've got to get r2l5 within 5 blobs :D)

We have added an experience reward for 2 level ranges outside of the battleground.
Levels 35-40 = Merchant Keep 1 (realm point cap – 7125 Realm level 2 rank 0)
Levels 40-45 = Merchant Keep 2 (realm point cap – 25375 Realm level 2 rank 5)
Ø In order to receive an experience reward you must take a merchant keep in an enemy frontier after it has been controlled by an enemy for at least 45 minutes. You must be in radius meaning you should have seen a message that you have entered <insert keep name>. You must do this once for each level range.

After taking the keep, if you meet the minimum realm points for that level range, you may go to the medal NPC in the capital cities and receive your Medal of Valor. The medals cannot be saved for use outside of the level ranges listed above, and you can only receive each medal and experience reward only once. *-*

Exactly :(

I get bored of constantly playing 1 character , yet dont have the time to do toa as i work shifts and am rarely off when the big raids happen..sure some poeple have the time and like doing them , some of us dont but still want to be able to enjoy the game to its capacity. Why i mentioned the free ml10 thing was so that you have to atleast do it once , then you get the ' challenge ' as someone mentioned earlier .

Also as someone else mentioned , it will be hard for new players but to be honest , is there actually many about ? its a struggle to even buy the game now and its never advertised.

Ive been playing for over 2 years and normally play at off peak times when none of these raids happen , if they made a ml route that you could solo / duo , fair enough , but at the moment for some ml's you need a minimum of 2fg ?

Its virtually impossible for someone in my position to do this.

I would say AT, PS, BG, FZ, Cure RS, Cure NS, Grapple, Mezz Poison and probably some more are better than a little extras but I guess thats up to each one to define "a little extras". :>

Spot on m8 .. its not the fact that you have to get the stuff and lvl it and such thats a pain.. its the fact that the mob's spawn once every blue moon and are camped 24/7... Think I read they was gonna start to tweak the ml's too so they where less time consuming/frustrating to do... Why not .. say put in an option so that you can choose to run the full ml as a FG.. maybe with reduced loot aka no uber drops from main mob's.. that way peopel had the option to get the ml's done quit a bit faster , if they where willingly to sacrify the possibility of some nice loot.. What ya think ???

Atleast something like you don't need the ml requirements to entire dungeons (ml3 for ml7 dungeon ect) so you can entire at any time ;|

That´s a generalization. Pickup RvR groups usually don´t take low RR or people in Epic armour or certain classes either so as a casual player, you won´t get RvR groups at all (which, then, would require to get everything for free/instantly: levels, RR`s, RA´s, artis, lvl onm artis, ML´s to even this out).
Join a guild, group with your guildmates, problem solved. You will never see a perfect balance in RvR.

I had three accounts with total of 8 lvl50 characters pre-ToA - now I've only one account with 2 lvl50s. Huge changes after long long time of release such as ToA and NF should be a whole new game, not an expansion, imo :p Pre-ToA most of ~RR4+ characters were perfectly viable to fight against any enemy, in NF you'll mostly need fully ToAed RR7+ character (NF-RAs).

ToA was probably some kind of idea of pervert mind to make powerleveling less effective, just as great idea as making buffbots less effective with buff shearing :rolleyes: Too many things would need a huge nerf now but its too late to fix it - wonder what the Catacombs will be like, more PvE = better items = nuclear weapons?

Personally I dont mind doing MLs or farming Artifacts but doing it for 8 characters just to end up with totally fucked up RvR doesn't make sense if you are RvR-type-of-person :p

I feel ya saggy. Move to a PvP server imo, they are still getting arti's and ML's there, but it's a bti more balanced because while they are farming them you can gank them and jack the ML/arti mob :D. That's how i got my battler/harpy cloak/ ML3.4 and .7 :p

Odd that, my ML2 blademaster didn't seem to have any problem the above. I remember some ML ability pulling me through the air away from the minstrel... still butchered her. That was pre-NF. In NF, the action is too fast paced or keep orientated for people to really bother with MLs. Fact is, if you really want to play the game without TOA you can, and you'll still succeed, you just need to try a bit harder.

Err, he has a point about NF actually. Even people who are artifacted out, ML10, RR10 whatever are reduced to being zerg fodder and about the only tactics consist of spamming range attacks ... preferably AE ones.

It's not a whole lot of fun (imo), but you will have to see for yourselves when it goes live in Europe.

Its something to progress towards, like getting to 50 for the 1st time, up to you if you want to roll another toon etc.

ML raids are always happening in the evenings and weekends, just attend one with an alt, not like its hard, its all about showing up at the time, joining BG, listening and /stick most of the time.

If you were given everything for free, whats the reward?

Im sure I read somewhere that Mythic did say they are going to revamp the ML and arti exping and getting. As another casualish player, I feel your pain as far as leveling goes on multiple characters.

The biggest pain in the arse I find is rip off merchants, those FOTM arti campers who sit there all day getting artifacts, stopping others getting them with their "its camped p*ss off!" attitude. IMO, as you cannot have more than one of any artifact, I think you should also not be able to possess one. In other words once you have collected an artifact from a drop, you cannot ever pick one up again. This would stop some artifacts being camped all day by the same people and may reduce prices on CMs too (excal is a major rip off as far as arti prices go!).

Getting free MLs though, nah, if you get em, so does every powa player, so really no advantage to be had. I still agree with the battlegroup idea, it makes things more group freindly, and sociable. However I think mobs should be balanced against the amount of players on the raid, for example, 1fg face a level 60 mob, 5 fg face a level 90 and so on. This way lesser groups stand a chance of doing it without a zerg.

Also, making the MLs give much better exp, say for completing ML X.10 with all ML exp, a sub 50 can get 10 bubs worth of exp, he worked hard for it, why not let him get a decent payout.

Ill probably never get ML10 on any char, I really cant be bothered, its bad enough spending 4 hours a night exping one toons artis, let alone getting them all through the grind of 3-8 hour raids.

MLs aren't too much of a problem from what I've seen - the main issue tends to be artifact mobs being massively overcamped, and often having stupidly long spawn times. Also some of them drop useful loot that isn;t the artifact, which makes them even more camped.

They should make /level into /level 50 - this having to play your character is such a pain - I mean if you get bored with one character you're just gonna quit...
