All this makes me think that the minute your finger print is developed that it is taken by a national database, with a sample of your DNA and maybe a photo, all your details are held in a single database along with whether you drive, where you work, are you disabled, are claiming some kind of income support.

Then when a finger print/dna sample is taken 98% of the time a match will be found

ID Cards for all residents of the UK, containing Finger Print and DNA data.

Would make it all soo much easier.

Oh and more CCTV including mobile units for trouble spots

Murder and death are quite regular here in East London, those yellow "did you see ..." police notices crop up every now and again, and several points along the busy roads have flowers decked where an odd cyclist met his fate.

One poignant flower shrine is were a young guy got stabbed to death after an argument at a bus stop, its rather sad seeing it every day, decked out with pictures and football scarves, I bet the bastard that did it never knew who many lives he was destroying besides his victim, I don't think they have ever caught any one either.

Right nearby my road two people got shot dead on New Years Eve, at a party in a company office, and a rather nasty murder took place in the next road two years back.

I live near the Regents Canal, I use the towpath to cycle to work, one day I saw two people standing and pointing and there in the middle of the canal was a "floater" (corpse) ! Mind you it was by a pub so it may have been an "accident".

The canal towpath gets really dangerous at night now, young kids ride motorbikes up and down (there is no lighting), and in fact some woman got gang raped a few years back on it, they caught the gang and it was noteworthy because a girl who egged on the rapists got sent to jail, the first time a female has been convicted of a rape charge.
