So, Windows7 doesn't come with a mail client as default. Not really wanting to download Windows Live Mail if there's an alternative out there that will do the same job/better.

Any suggestions peeps?

TB is one of those programs I've slapped on and never even considered using anything else since. Just works. Reliable. Works well using the forwarders from Hotmail and Gmail. All the features I need.

Scouse,
I understand your issue with finding a mail client for Windows 7, I would encourage you to visit the microsoft.com/springboard site for a list of suggested mail clients to function windows 7. I would also like to point out that Windows Live "Wave 3" package offers several revamped tools, including a mail client which is very similiar to Windows Mail.... thanks

Jeebus! Microsoft's hitting the marketing hard! :)

It's bad enough that I suck the teets of M$ all day at work (when I'm working). So when I'm at home I like to cut off my nose to spite my face and find less useable software with unfamiliar front-ends to work with :)

Edit: But if you're dumb enough to come back and check on posts I'm liking 7....

lol christ, that takes something else :D

Not personally a fan of the MS kit to be frank, and it's already been established TB works rather spiffingly. I think MS should be concentrating on interoperability rather than pushing anything else. It does however feel a little odd that with all the obvious hard (and very effective) work that's gone into W7, that a mail client would be overlooked. Doesn't mean I'd personally use it, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind there.

*On a slight edit, if anyone's worried about this person being from anywhere other than MS, it would appear he is genuine*

MS Springboard peeps float around reading forums and reply to posts about MS products when they can "help".

I thought it was not included to avoid more lawsuits and EU fines?

Probably, although there's not exactly a huge amount of paid mail clients out there that are really used as a common replacement for Outlook/OE.

I just use my webmail front, the reality is that it suits me more because I don't have to remember about my emails when I fuck around with my computer and end up restoring it.
