Mafia on XP

I know this issue has been done to death and Take 2 have been roundly slated for not supporting XP with this game, but does anyone know of any hacks or workarounds I can use to get Mafia running on XP?

It's irritating really.. finished the game on 2k ages ago. I wouldn't mind giving it a go again and my girlfriend wants to try it. I'm not going to install 2k again just for this. I have principles, dagnabit. (and I can't be arsed)

Weird. I've been playing Mafia on XP for ages with no problems. Um...

Are you using the latest 1.2 patch?

Yep. Been through the patches and back. Trawled through a million usenet/forum posts about people not being able to run it and the fact that Take 2 have utterly ignored all of them. (ish)

Kind of annoyed that I won't be able to play it again.

I can play it fine? I just put the cd's in install it and it runs like any other game (If a little slowly.)
