Macbook & Macbook Pro.

I'm after a macbook, they're sexy and I like OSX...

I'm unsure which to get, even though ones 13" and one 15" there is little difference in the actual size of the laptop so im told..

The 15" ones have dedicated graphics cards (ATI Mobility Radeon X1600) where as the 13" have onboard...

13" has 2ghz dual cpu and 15" has same but 2.16ghz

My current laptop is a 1.75ghz centrino, with 512mb ram and a 5300FXGo

How would they compare to that? (i'll be putting a gig in the macbook depending on which I get, unless you guys recommend 2gig..)

I havnt played games in a while but sometimes I get an urge to play them, how would they hold out? (regardless of the fact that its osx, i'll prolly install xp too)

Fundamentally, if you want to play games you're going to be safer with the Pro. The on-board graphics will be fine for most stuff but heavy graphics (of the professional or gaming variety) isn't going to give you a lot of longetivity. I've read some reports of people playing games on the Intel Mac Mini systems (which also use on-board graphics) and the results haven't been good.

As far as normal laptop use goes though, they look to be phenomenal machines.

I got a Macbook yesterday to replace my aging G3 ibook.

This machine is the nads - so far no complaints, only praise - and the screen is goregous. Happy i never forked out the extra to the pro...

I've run Quake on mine at 1600x1200 with stupid FPS. Then again, it struggles to run RTCW:ET at minimum res with everything turned off. So it is seriously limited by the graphics.

One problem i've heard of with the macbook pro is that with XP installed the power management doesn't work and it gets to temperatures akin to the surface of the sun. Dunno if it's been sorted out yet though...
