They both have good styles ithink axe is better

SilverHood why even bring anytimes into this, Anytime moves dont win you fights in RvR.

Positionals, Reactionaries and Status Effect styles DO.

LW has a MEDIUM Damage EASY Positional LONG stun HIGH PENALTY to defence style at 50. (Anhillation)

Hammer has a HIGH Damage HARD 3rd after Block BROKEN slowed effect HIGH PENALTY to defence at 50. (Mjollnirs Fury)

Axe 50 style is nice, no stun but good damage
Sword 50 styles is again very nice damage, no stun but easy to pull off.

HAMMER needs help, whether its compared to LW, Mid Axe or Mid Sword, its very poor line esp for any class that can and will spec 50 in it.

Specifically its the lack of a long duration Stun in any of the 3 lines thats a killer for Hybrids. Basically it all but gimps a 50 Weap spec Hybrid in mid as he then cant get Shield slam.
