14parry

pleasee me needs to know what to do once i get to lvl 47 ill have to choose which template to go for, i heard sun + moon is a very good style.

If you are a paladin then chants are your class defining ability so you should probably spec them highly :) My personal view is that sword/shield paladin > every other class as a GM but then I need people who stay alive and keep aggro. If you've gone the 2-handed route then 46 chants I think would be better although I'm sure some of my veteran pallies will be able to advise you a little better :)

Which is worse, that he agreed with Mattshanes? Or that he refers to those in his guild as if they were possessions...

I believe have 46 chants would be alot better than the 50 2 handed skill- the last heal chant helps alot etc- also damage add is also nice.

Dunno how i'm gunna respec my pellinor paladin :) he lvl 49

thinking 30slash 42 shield 46 or 48 chants and rest parry.

then again 39 2 handed, 40 crush , 7 shield , 48 chants, rest parry also seemed nice

Nope. You'll just root me and send those annoying little critters at me, who'll all probably con orange like you. Besides, Glauthrong's in Malmohus, not making a trip anywhere just for you.

Don't worry though, I've got Psi and Teador already, your turn will come eventually. ;)

when respec comes the famous (I´d like to think so since I invented it) extra defensive paladin is a viable choice

50 chants, 42 shield, 35 parry, 18 slash, low dmg output (60-80 on yellow at 41) but I have been able to solo up to 7 yellows in a row OR 4 blues at once.

Hummina.. 50 chants, for what? at 49 you will get 20%matter resist chant, W0H007. and 50 gives you nothing.

4 blues at once isn't that many, I've managed 5+ blues or a mixture of 7 green-blue mobs in catacombs, damn thrust ! Don't think I could chain-kill that many yellows quickly though.

As someone said earlier - paladins really need them chants, so that kinda seals your fate now.

You can always respec later..... much later....

Like Revz says, max your chants. A Paladin with poor chants is like a theurgist without pbt ... a self gimped character. A lot of Paladins are gimping their chants at the moment, instead they are maxing in slash or shield - but Paladins will -never- hit as hard as armsmen so they've made their characters bad armsmen and poor Paladins.

I took chants to 49, it only gives an earth ward (resist to gardening maybe? :) ) but you could probably take them to 48 and use the points slightly better. Certainly taking chants to 50 is a waste as it affords no benefits to you.

With a nice bit of twisting last night I withstood some Mids (all blue con to me at 50) who were laying about me with axes and magic long enough for my group to find me (I had gone for a wander) and kill them. There is a lot to be said for being able to stick around in a battle, even if we don't inflict uber damage on the enemy.

And, after all, isn't that what tanks are there for?

Well, that and to be mezzed and realm point farmed :( <------- NB. pet hate subject this week ;)

Chants are the defining part of the Paladin, but you have to decide what you want do really, whether its PvE or RvR. I'm a S&B Pally, but I'm not speccing my chants so high, mainly cos I want to see what 50 slash is like, also I've read that with epic armor your AF is thru the roof so your self shield buff doesn't increase your actual AF at all and while the resist chants sound good on paper, I think theres just too many situations where you will be swapping them about like a madman and more than like ly pick the wrong one ;)

Way I see it is, if you want to beat the living daylights out of things, go 2handed, the damage output is high, but the damage you take is also high, if you want to live a bit longer or look after casters/clerics or be a backup basher for the 2handed Pally, then go S&B, but then you have to decide whether your role is gonna be babysitter or backup hitter. Shielding a decent tank works quite well, me and my guilds Friar teamed up once, he beat stuff to a pulp with his Jackie Chan moves (he does like to let rip every now and then ;)) while I was guarding him and I think he only took 3 hits during the whole time we were out in Emain (gotta love high spec shields)

As for respec I'm a still undecided, would love to dish out damage, but dont like getting hit much ;)
Oh and I can solo 4-5 blues with my Pally, as proved in DF today, was close, but I won in the end, several times :D
