OK Farnis

you ay you started this thread to have a bit of fun.

yet you attacked carrot for posting his opinion of the game.

Carrot didnt attack you, he said all rp farmers should be killed.

So what I wanna know is whats your stance on 2 guys duelling and a 3rd comes and ganks em both? (grey or otherwise)?

If there are 3 or 30 level 1's in the frontiers then they are open targets.

I just know that the one of the best times I have had so far was when i was lower level and i watched some dueling between some of our higher hibs and an alb pally. No one died..no-one got any realm points..it was just a good laugh.
It was a much better laugh than when we were in Ygg and our force was stormed by about 30 hibbies...i died...but then i got to watch as the whole hibbie force ignored some thane who was standing next to all the tree huggers...I asked him if he was using RogerWilco or something...and he said yes. He had just orchestrated the whole attack. You see this thing all the time...now - I know full well ill have to wait for the BG's - thats a given...but how long will that be...forgive me...but im a bit bored..

Bom - im sorry for calling you names btw - im in work..its hot..im cranky and i cant watch the world cup..sorry.

Hope you reported this thane for cheating.

Organising an attack on your own relm is cheating and subject to immidiate banning.

You make a good and valid point about kill steeling in RvR and in the past I have not assistad a relm m8 slaying an nme for that very reason ( I may have droped a frigs on him as I think that dosent Ks).

If the fight looked anywhear neer close I would pich in however as RvR is far less predictable than PvM.

If I saw 2 ppl hammering at each other then stopping to recover as proposed in this thred I would defanatly try and slay any opposing relmies and any ressers thay had on hand. It War dammit.

Farnis

Lets hope in the new expantion thears a MUPPET race as your obviously well suited to be one.

Im not really sure I want to see anyone banned..I really cant be arsed with grassing up people..depends on the offense i suppose.

I was just highlighting the fact that I just want to have some fun...and that some people are doing far worse things.

Oh well..Gee..excellent - another 3 months before i will be a level high enough to hit another realmer..cant wait.

When people duel they do it on the understanding that they are fighting in a frontier and can legally be killed by a 3rd person.

If that happens .. then tough.

No comeback should happen on that 3rd .. they was doing their job (defending their frontier from invaders).

If they also happen to be a grey con - hey thats 1RP and 1 less invader in their lands.

I havent met anyone who has been duelling yet - not 100% sure what I would do if I realised this - would depend if anyone got killed and how they conned.

Greys - they are just another con colour and still deserve to die - there are plenty of places to hunt in their own lands. When I frequented Yggdra, many many times Albs / Hibs came in and 'ganked' us all ... I didnt cry or throw my dummy out - it happens, and was a risk I was prepared to take.

As there seems to be little to do for the level 50s I suppose duelling extends the life of DAoC ... but like I said before, there is always a risk taken whilst doing this, and you shouldnt moan if you die.

If you do insist on duelling - take it to some far out place where hardly anyone goes ...

All you guys posting their opinions about how much they are against duelling, and how they would interupt the duels at any given time once found, may want to note who the original topic was aimed at. Correct, it wasnt aimed at you, it was aimed at those who wish to take part in the duelling.
Its really quite simple, dont want to take part? dont post.
Count me in.

I checked the code of conduct. The nearest thing I could find was this:

Players undertake not to make use of any bug, not to use any undocumented functions and not to exploit any possible design faults.

Right, so no RP farming. However, in the RightNow FAQ section, under the section "RvR Rules" of the question "What is GOA's policy about RvR events?" it says this, after listing some 'unfair, but perfectly allowed' examples:

You are absolutely free to show mercy, honour and bravery in RvR but please note that this is not at all an obligation and that others may not follow the same rules than you do.

Basically, if your stance is that 'I will always kill a group of grey-con enemies that have notified as many people as possible that they are not breaking the rules of conduct, and are merely staging an event in which to have fun', that reflects more on yourself, or perhaps your 'character', than anyone else. It's utterly within your rights, but you always have a choice.

So how about this, Farnis: try and get each realm to enlist the help of as many level 40-50s as possible, to come and watch over the event and guard against any "unscrupulous good-for-nothings". Have it advertised as widely as possible, and make sure everyone knows for sure when, where, and the fact that this is perfectly legal (if it isn't, then someone point out why please, citing sources and giving links.)

This thread amuses me - if Goa had ingame CSR you'd all be physically forced to stop duelling/RP farming/whatever on the spot and anyone who carried on would get a ban/suspension.

So whatever people *thought* was fair and whats not it would be broken up regardless.

Oh but I'm dreaming as its only US that has ingame CSR and GOA are shite.

My personal opinion is that if I want to duel I'll play quake 3, not indulge in carebear games.

So - on EU people get away with duelling etc and this is why if RP totals are ever published on GOA's site they will be absolutely meaningless (I recall seeing 8 or so mids and albs all lining up to kill each other at MG2 once - not fighting back just getting hacked down).

Btw when I was on EU I had one rule - kill every player I saw. Worked for me. One day I'll write about Mordred. Now THAT is PvP.

EDIT: Just to add that if people want to do their little games etc I'm bored of saying its lame/against the CoC/whatever and this post isnt saying that - its saying that if we were playing "proper" DAOC it would ALL be broken up by CSR's and people's views are unimportant here as the "referees" of the game can and will stop it 24/7. Hope this makes sense?

My experience in duels did not envolve killing... when ppl got low on health, u stoped fighting, /bow /salute and then rested and prepered for next "fight"...
sure sometimes u got killed and sometimes u killed your opponent, but most of the time u stoped when one of the combatants where down on 10% health...

RE: Xtro

A literal quote from the RightNow FAQ on RvR rules:

The three following examples may seem unfair, but are perfectly fitting the total and merciless war between the realms of Dark Age of Camelot.
- Siegfried, a young and brave level 20 paladin offered to duel Grrak, a berserker troll (using an out of game forum or something). The last comes to the meeting with all his guild, 30 characters level 50, and they totally annihilate the poor paladin.
- Ekoal, a young level 5 eldritch, is exploring the frontiers. Inattentive for a minute because of the doorbell ringing (the real one), he lets his character stand at a good range of any monster. A full group of Albion infiltrators and scouts (67 characters level 47 to 50) happens to find his hideout and cut him into pieces without even stopping. The player of Ekoal comes back to his computer only to see his character dead with some of the scouts and infiltrators dancing and laughing around his body.
- The fierce “Odin’s fist” Troll guild was challenged by the powerful Paladin council of Albion for a huge fight in Hadrian wall. The Midgardians arrive on the empty battlefield only to learn that the Albions attacked and captured a relic keep of Midgard.

By your reasoning, the first and third examples wouldn't be allowed. Have GOA posted incorrect information, or have you? Or what?
