I used to get that - it's a direct3d problem. Switch to OpenGL as your renderer. You don't say what vidcard you have but I'm guessing it's a geforce or geforce2 and you also don't say what OS - if you're using w2k and an NVidia card you may have problems with gamma in OpenGL but NVMax will sort that out.

But trust me, I'm 99% sure that switching to OpenGL instead of d3d will sort out your mouse lag :)

And (and I am getting sick of saying this) Please speak in coherent sentences, and make sense. Use punctuation, it will help clear up what the fuck you are talking about.

Anyway, yeah never use dierct3d for counter-strike or half life games/mods. They are optimised for OpenGL, and run like a dog in d3d.

Agreed. I get 100fps ish in OpenGL and about 20 in D3D :)

actually I didn't have to reinstall just change to software to handle the rendering and now I'm back all I have to do now is set up my computer to run as a server that is going to be the hard part
I have a second system that is just sitting here a g-6 450 with almost 258 meg of ram and a huge hard drive windows98
I am running telocity and i would like the two computers to talk to each other so I can use the 450 for server action and use the 866 for web page design and stuff any ideas on how to do this. ??
at this time they are not speaking to each other

two computers one dsl service

Hey kids,
I have a question that perhaps you can help with.
I run a Gateway g7 866 with 256 meg of ram and I have a g6-450 with the same amount just sitting here not doing anything.I would like to turn the g6450 in to a game server and be able to use my g7 866 for web page design and other important stuff like using its superior pentium power to reign death upon all enemy's of the Black OPs I need them to talk to each other they both have ethernet cards but don't recognize each other I have telocity if that helps I have a 2 port console omni-cube that allows me to use one keyboard and one mouse to access both computers but I can't get both computers to go online at the same time or even talk to each other any ideas ??????

I would greatly appreciate it

another way::

+ if u REALLY want to run it in d3d u can solve the lagegd control by opening the d3d file and typing:

d3d_flip 1

at the bottom and then closing it. (I aint sure exactly what file. It is in the readme .txt which comes with the game.

If none of the above suggestions help then try either changing your rate or your max fps although I think the former solution might no longer work.

You don't mention how the problem developed which might help. If you have a (computer) problem at all that is.

no

It is definetly a d3d problem. It says it is in thier own readme .txt with a solution

From Half-Life readme.txt :

Direct3D Input seems lagged.
If your input seems to lag behind the visual display on occasion, add this line to your d3d.cfg file:

gl_d3dflip 1

You have a 32mg vid card that does not support opengl? Rather than play in software, use d3d and use the changes ollytus suggested.

Tell me what vid card u have and what drivers u use?

LOL

how can your card not support open GL? can you not update it or something. Running in software mode is awful. Go and make the d3dflip changes to the file. It nearly eliminates all the control lag and runs a lot ore efficiently

FFS that card and its predesesor can use OpenGL, Gateway PC? BAH there is your problem go chuck it in the bin. Anyway go download the detonator 3 drivers version 6.50 and then if u ask in here someone will tell u how to install them properly (yes it aint simple, YOU REALLY, REALLY need to get rid of the existing drivers first, i would help but i am not back home till monday.

I think I can handle it with out to much trouble and your right
the gateway is a boat anchor it takes way to long to load and is a p.o.s.
I will never buy a gateway again !
