A Mediterranean perennial plant (Levisticum officinale) having edible leaves and leafstalks and small, aromatic, seedlike fruit used as seasoning.

  • Jennifer Charles (Elysium Fields)
  • Dan Nakamura (Gorillaz)
  • Kid Koala
  • Damon Albarn (Blur; Gorillaz)
  • Maseo (De La Soul)
Oh, good god yes!
As I type this semi-review I have blasting melodically through my speakers a duet masterpiece, a combination of Patton's dirty grunge sound and Charles' beautifully euphonic counterpart.
Trying to think of bands to compare the actual musical style with has proven a difficult task - I lack definitions of genres at the best of times - The closest I can draw to them is some sort of acid-jazz equivalent of The Avalanches or Massive Attack, though not entirely jazz orientated, there are heavy rhythmic focuses.
Thats not to say they're at all like either mentioned band, they're as experimental and different as one would expect from such a cast. Presenting a very professional chilled-out sound that wouldn't be out of place in the background of a strip-club or smokey coffee bar (that must be some sort of oxymoron - you can't smoke anywhere indoors these days) they deliever a unique punch, that in my opinion (and seemingly I'm in the minority) works tremendously well.
I wouldn't make love to anyone's Old Lady to it, but I'd certainly make them sit down and hear it.

The Unpop Review & AG Reviews probably do a better job at defining them, though both end up calling it an exciting failure, or suchlike.

(FYI, AudioGalaxy lists the genre as "Trip-Hop" or "Alternative Hip-Hop" ... both of which are fair estimations, but lack the defining points)

I think next time I'll just post URLs, it'd be quicker and easier.
