Lots of problems...

Right. After one week I'm tired and sick of not even being able to get some decent rvr/pvp. Most I can do is craft, or pve due to my lag. Sometimes its good, but most of the time its just yellow/red lag on my lag-o-metre.

Some problems I've had running DAoC:
  1. General ingame lag
  2. Computer resets, but fixed that now

I've downloaded a few antivirus software including AVS, Protector Plus 2000 for Windows XP, and Zonealarm as a firewall, which is total bullcrap.

I've ran my virus scanners multiple times, and almost every time I restart my computer I get the same virus in the systerm32/ folder about IRC/Backdoor or something. Also get pop ups from AVS saying I have trojons, run the scan, fix, and still lag on daoc.

Seems to me that as I dial into the internet its ok for about 5 minutes. I can download the patch.bin at normal speed, 40-60kps. As soon as I log on the problems start. The login takes longer then normal, and as I even get in I get the lag mentioned.

Tried lots of things to solve this, some are on prydwen.net on Extremely Slow Broadband.. which was and still is my main problem: after a while on connecting to the internet it just gets slow, slower then even cable sometimes!

If you can help me with this predictament I will marry you in game. As long as you make a char on Camlann to marry.

Thanks
Amer the Friar, Cavel the Nightshade
Victims of Lag and lack of PvP. Givf my 50k lrp again!

You need to turn off System Restore this is restoring some of the files that had the Virus

Right click on [MY COMPUTER] and select [PROPERTIES]
next click on the [SYSTEM RESTORE] tab and sellect the [TURN OFF SYSTEM RESTORE ON ALL DRIVES] this will give you a propt box asking are you sure and that all execsting Save point will be deleted select [YES] now restart you PC and do a Virus Scan and then Restart you PC and see if you had the probelem if not.. Reactivate System Restore and creat a new restore point!

To Creat a new restore point goto [HELP] in the [START MENU] and select under [PICK A TASK] [UNDO CHANGES TO YOUR COMPUTER with SYSTEM RESTORE] now all you have to do is select [CREATE A RESTORE POINT] and follow the on screen prompts

hope this helps

also with adaware you might want to try a program called Ad-ware by lavasoft. http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Don't think so.

Your solution seems to cut down on the viruses, but the lag is still continueing with Red Lag on the metre now all the time.

Think what I might do know is restart my computer once more now I have all these viruses have been removed and see if I still have the internet problem.

If I do, I'm going to get a big massive hammer, and bombard the computer with thousands of angry blows.

How long have you been getting the lagg ? I.E what have you done recently what have you install / downloaded
Been getting this ever since after restarting my computer once I had this error saying that Windows didn't start properly and needed to restart with some options. Will get you them later.

Couldn't get back onto the PC, so had to restart the whole PC. After that been having all these problems. Got a thread on Prydwen.net about it aswell -.- which has the full problem which seems to have started this all.

k - what if u do a ctrl-alt-del and watch the bandwidth monitor for the connection
i am thinking either a) there is something running thats eating the bandwidth
b) there is a problem with the connection / account / isp

this is what im thinking atm.. I will have a look on Prydwen.net.. and see what you ahve put there

No idea if this is relevant, but the broadband thing says: "Sent 80 mil bytes, Received 10 mil bytes". And it hasn't been running for over an hour. Just some extra information, no idea what is relevant since I'm an ICT newb.
I think this is you on prydwen.net xD
right.. what motherboard do you have ? from this discription I would say you need to reinstall you network drivers

Had fun doing that for 10 minutes :p Got bored after a while.

Found out that once CPU had an impact, but doesn't seem so any more. Was 100% once and couldn't do anything, but somehow fixed it.

Besides that all seems normal. Not sure what to check out for.

Had a hint that it could be the sasser worm virus.. because of whenever I logged in LSASS.exe kept popping up, and because of the 60 sec timer.

Seemed to remove that, after restarting my pc, and all seems fine. Just need to reinstall daoc, and download it all to see if it really is ok.
