Haven't heard of this issue, and I've not had any problems with them. They had technical issues that lasted roughly 20 minutes earlier, if it wasn't during that time (around 2PM today) then I don't know what's wrong.

a little OT, can anyone give me a run down on the classes please? either want to play a typical heavy tank or an assassin.

Looking on their home page there are several tank types, Captain, Guardian, Champion. which is your the hero type? Is it possible to solo effectively with a bugler? I dont really have time to play MMOs much so will mostly solo i suppose.

Captain = Paladin, gets an "ally" that runs around with a banner that increases stats and fights aswell, you get some range pulls and can use most wepons (level dependant)

Champion = Your basic DPS, can use DW/2h/spears etc, does nice dmg and wears heavy armour, champs have a thing called "fevour" which can be gained using certain styles (5 pips is max you can have) when you have a certain amount, you then can do other styles of more dmg be it single or aoe styles.

Guardian = s/s tanker, not played one so cant really give to much info sorry :(

you can solo, but now ive reached level 26 ive noticed alot of quest's are group orientated (or atleast 2-3 to make it go smoothly), but saying that you could just grind off mobs (but i wouldnt recommend, xp off mobs isnt wonderfull)

i belive a burgular is DW, can stun/mezz mobs, can stealth around (pretty sure anyway) low'ish morale (hp's) and leather armour only (could be wrong on that though)

hope this helps some.

Guardian = heavy tank (big shield, taunting moves)
Champion = duel wielding dps
Captain = hybridish, big halbard, pet, morale boosting shouts
burgler = stealther with some cc
loremaster = cc/pet/ nuker
minstrell = healer
hunter = range ( just for the record i hate these f*ckers)

feel free to correct me (except hunter part:) )

The Champion (which I play) is a pure DPS class. We get a variety of attacks, and a decent amount early on in the game. We're the top AoE dps class and the second highest single DPS class, second to the Hunter. I find the class fun to play, and they're good at both soloing & grouping, every group needs one or two. Most of us dual wield, but we do have the option of using Shields & Two-Handed Weapons.

Guardians are the real tanks in the game, they can take substantially more hits than the Champion or the Captain and have a few taunting abilities, they seem a little boring solo but they're an important asset to any group and can generally find one rather fast.

Captains, well I don't know much about these as there isn't all that many about on my server, but I do know they mainly use Spears/Halberds, can heal (not as good as the Minstrel obviously), and have some kind of weird banner that seems to work a bit like a pet for a self-buff, perhaps someone else can tell you more about this class.

As for Burgulars, I have no idea how well they solo but in groups they're great if played well. There are many clueless Burglars and few good ones, you can really tell the difference between the playstyles in a good group. They're primary a debuffer and secondary DPS I believe.

Sounds like lotro has taken a lot of class ideas(and other) from other games and shaken things up in a positive way.

Cool.

Might actually go for it, even if it is a bit, trademarkish.

I had this issue when i registered the other day.

Make sure you have the spam filter off, also try contacting them.

I re-requested mine about 4 times, after 2 hours 1 of the emails randomly appeared

I installed lotro, was a nightmare!

1) never got the account activation email, yes i turned off the fucking spam filters! after 2 hours and about 100 "Press me to resend" clicks, it finally came through

2) download some shit patch from fileplanet as they are too incompetant to have a reliable patcher

3) log in, pickup a bow and right click on it "Oh great, i just deleted my weapon". After looking for where it could be, i realised it was deleted "thanks for not displaying a box asking to confirm" so i re-rolled.

4) piss about with horrible controls, make them a little more like Daoc and notice the characters wont turn 'a little bit', they almost turn at Right Angles regardless of how softly i press the button!

5) run at roughly 0.24 mph, realise i've wasted a good few hours playing a game which A) Looks like plastic characters which ugly textures, and B) feels a little like Dungeon Siege, but for all the wrong reasons.

I since cancelled my subscription and do not wish to play this piece of junk ever again!

DON'T PLAY THIS GAME IT SUCKS BIG TIME!

1. Activation emails, can be a problem but its NEVER with the Billing system / webby.

2. Patched from Fileplanet... nice. The patcher is actually far better than most games out now, so unless you download from the path server and not another source... you should have no problems.

3. DFU? ;)

The rest, its not for everyone... but the graphics are fantastic, you only have to google LOTRO to fine some decent ones.
Its not fantastic or maybe even a "WoW Killer" - but theres lots of things about the game that make it better than WoW - the 'Monster play' is excellent.
How long did you play the game for? get past level 20? :)

I dont think i even levelled. I started in some elf place and walked around for a bit, some trolls came, my char shit himself till a wizard killed them, then i went outside into a snowy area with dwarves and wolves.

I want to play Warhammer like many others, so im spending any free time on an mmo as its something to do. City of Villains was good but the pvp sucked (people just fly away when in trouble).

LOTRO felt like a rubbish WoW. As a couple of friends are playing on WoW i thought best to go back on there.

Get level 10, go Monster play (on a decent server) and the PVP is far far better than WoW

I'm waiting on WAR as well, I stupidly turned down a QA job for it... stupid me :twak:

I know what your saying Dreamor, and to be fair, not even playing it for more than 20 minutes doesn't give me a good insight to the game.

but

i'm not playing for endgame, as mentioned it will be a filler till warhammer, and with all the hassle setting the game up, plus not really enjoying the first 5 minutes (warhammer made a point of saying "if you dont capture them in the first few levels, they wont carry on"), i figured best to play wow with rl buddies and play a shaman.

I was hesitant to play wow again as i've played it at 70, but as im not in a pve rush to hit 70 its alot more fun to play.

'To each his own' I say...well, I never said that, someone else did, I just stole it

Me and a few of the guild are playing it and really like it, the controls are easy to pick up, the quests are fairly varied and very story driven which is nice. The classes are fun and not too complicated and the monster play is great fun.

Overall it`s definately better than wow in my opinion and hopefully should keep us going till WAR.

So Gamah, you should go buy it :D

Got to level 12 now, and it's fantastic, the graphics are great and the quests are superb :)

No doubt about that, unlike Vanguard there's plenty of quests and I haven't yet needed to grind whatsoever for levels.

I'd recommend it to you Gamah.

Are any of you playing on Evernight? :p

I totally see where your coming from, I was the same on DAOC until there was no one left to speak to. A game IS less fun not knowing people and I think a big step for most MMOs would be to get the guilds onboard. WoW just got the same, level 70... end-game is trash, more quests and items... more levels. Most my guild are there and between it and LOTRO. The thing I could not do was pay for something that later became just a chat room to keep in touch... £9 wasted, when it could be spent on :drink:

if you don't like it mate, but find in a months time you want to re-sub... look me up on Snowbourne as 'Trigger'
