Lord of the Rings is *still* outstanding.

Well, I had to take the day off work today for personal reasons  , and decided to sit down with a cup of tea and watch my Region 1 Lord of the Rings DVD. Since it's daytime and the neighbours are at work I pumped up the volume on my Dolby Digital Amp and turned the subwoofer up.

Just finished, and, despite watching the film at the cinema, this film still astounds me. Everything about it is just so right and the whole 3 hours kept me gripped. Can't wait for the 5 disc Extended Version which I also have on pre-order.

Surely one of the best films ever made?

I suggest you pick up a copy if you haven't already done so.

I got mine (Region 1) delivered early last week from www.dvdsoon.com .

Cost me a touch over £12 delivered for the 2 disc version. DO NOT FFS GO BUY IT FROM THE HIGH STREET. THEY WILL BE CHARGING £20 - £25 !!

The 5 disc Collector's (With the 2 Argonath Bookends) will cost me £33 delivered.

Worth every penny cos the extras on the 5 disc are different to the 2 disc version. It will also be the 30 mins extra extended version and have DTS sound for those with the right systems.;)

Not the same mate.

Quality films deserve quality picture and sound.

I do download a lot of films from Kazaa but generally I will also buy them on DVD when they are out. - I even bought Resident Evil FFS!! (although that is being sold this week :p )

The film was pretty goddamn boring, even by Lord Of The Rings standards. The book is an abomination of literature; how it achieved its high status (aside from inventing common-place species) is beyond me. I only hope that The Two Towers is better than the book.

Wha..
Ho..

Excuse me?!?!

Savage!!

Lord Of The Rings is superb literature! Tolkein pulls you right into the story! You can even feel how tired and hungry the Hobbits get on their long journey!

kez may be a lot of things, but he's not a savage. a cultural dyslexic perhaps? I used to think that LotR owned all, however I've read it too may times causing me to become slightly jaded re all things tolkien
