and all i have is a vague memory of its shape.

basically its from somewhere around late 50's early 60's. long smooth lines with the spare tire "molded" into the trunk. it was mint green (top) and white (below the chromed line), think that was the original color of the car when it was new if that helps.

been searching on every car brand i can think of but i cant find it :(

hope this extreamly crap description will help :)

Any idea of the nationality?

Also if it was generally a "race" or "people" car?

Chrysler d'elegance?

Cadillac Fleetwood?

Something of that ilk / shape? Both of those are fairly iconic of the times.

kinda like the mercury. but with alot rounder shapes and a "hump" on the trunk that houses the spare tire (the trunk is molded to atleast look like theres a spare tire under it). meaning the spare tire isnt outside the trunk. its inside it, or looks like it anyway.

That's why I thought it was the d'Elegance, because it has the hump you describe. Was the "hump" flat or upright?

now were getting close, but it was more upright. kinda looked like it started of the rear bumber and went up at a slight angle at maybe 70 - 80 degrees..

1940 Lincoln Continental? The vertical tyre hump is a Lincoln design signature; had it in the Town Car until fairly recently...

aye, lincoln continental would be my next guess. President Kennedy's lincoln continental had that spare wheel design.

*shudders* Never understood why anyone would would want any American car from the late sixties onwards. Even the so-called classics like the Dodge Charger, Boss Mustang, Pontiac GTO etc. were actually totally crap. 50's Americana I can understand, they were technically no worse (and often better) than European equivalents, and had ace styling, but after about 1965 there's just awfulness everywhere you look.

Well, depends on taste and such.

I think the 1970-79 muscle cars look, drive(as in don't) and SOUND as a car should.

They don't have fancy bells or whistles, they don't turn corners like a greased lightning, but you can cruise in them at 30mph and feel like the king of the road while the engine is there, ready and able, if you need to tell someone to "F*ck off the way!", not to mention doing this all at the comfort of your own living room.

I think if someone sees you driving down the street in say, a 1970 Camaro, their reaction will probably be "middle aged C&W fan, probably with a beer belly and pony-tail". Drive down the same street in say a 1970 Alfa GTV, and most people would say, "I don't know what that is, but it's cool".

or

chevrolet-camaro-1970-1.jpg

And that's one of the better American cars of the era. I think the choice is "cool", or "watched too many 70's cop shows".

*cough...coughcoughspew...drops dead on ground twitching out of ocntrol*

You've gotta be f*cking kidding me.

And yes, a 1970 camaro says that, but a hemi 1969 charger or a challenger ofr that matter says "i want to f*ck that man now!" to the right kind of women.

Aka, discob*tches can go f*ck themselves.
