im bored & with the current state of DAoC atm (especially rvr) here goes a boppa post ^^
RvR .....whats that!?
Thats what some noob would probably think if they stepped into the frontier atm its that quiet!
I wouldnt have thought WoW would have made such an impact, but a few weeks on, RvR seems dead & getting worse imo.
Alot of the regular rvr guilds have almost fell apart due to members leaving from all realms, Im one of the fortunate ones who moved to a pretty active guild, but going RvR is dull at the best of times.
Im spending most of my time atm over on mid/exc leveling a BD as atm rvr on there is alot more active than pryd, but even exc has been hit hard.
I know theres been talk of Server Clustering, tbh they need to do it quickly before those of us thats left get fed up & move on. I know catacombs is around the corner, but then so is a handful of NEW mmorpg's (one of which is Dark & Light) which i will more than likely be leaving DAoC for. I cant help feel that catac wont solve all of DAoC's probs..ok it adds a few new classes etc..but imo Catacombs will be a PvE'rs dream, for the RvR freak (like myself!) it dont offer much, apart from the fact i will have to do yet MORE PvE if i wanted to try out one of the new char(s) in RvR, dont get me wrong i will prob try one or 2 of the new chars before leave DAoC... but i wont be getting it to L50 wit ToA'd gear etc, I will prob just have a lil fun PvE & maybe try out thid, but thats as far as im going.
GoA/Mythic whoever, could have done ALOT to keep its customers, instead they just thrown useless x-pansion packs at us once in a blue moon & the only useful expansion to-date imo is NF..but as usual for us Euro players, this came much later than promised..
WoW has hit daoc hard & will continue to do so, i know some ppl will think alot of players that left DAoC for WoW will come back, tbh by the time they get bored of WoW they will prob move to another new mmorpg thats around the corner...whats there to come back to ? A few new chars.. more time on useless PVE raids to have a chance in RvR..
DAoC imo is purely a PvP game. They should have concentrated on this instead of trying to "beef-up" the PvE side, its the PvP in DAoC that has kept daoc above water for so long, theres many other mmorpg's out there (& around the corner) that makes DAoC look like child's play when it comes to PvE, but PvP (atm) DAoC is by far the best, which is why im still playing DAoC.
But with Dark & Light around the corner, i will not think twice about leaving DAoC if it lives up to what beta testers/dev's have said about it... I like to PvE in mmorpg's but in daoc its not fun at all..its a chore & a grind...slaying same mob after mob just to reach L50..then more PvE to get ToA'd then even more PvE for ML's which some classes need for rvr...all this just for RvR!
Ah well, time will tell as the motto goes, but it dont look good & im guessing theres many more leaving soon for another mmorpg thats around the corner.
