75 or something around that. Gets freaky after 48 hours, because you really start to see and hear things that aren't there.

yeah about 2 days did it for me, I've been awake for long periods interspersed with short naps when I was ill and just couldn't get 'real' sleep and that was just terrible. Tris why are you on an awakeathon may I ask?

I love sleep.

Over 3 days, probably pushing on towards 4 days and I was a total wreck. More than 2 days without sleep is a disaster waiting to happen tbh.

coming up on 70 hours working on the final edit of a school project when I was 19. I must say, you notice the awesomely scary power of nicotine, alcohol and caffeine at about 40 hours, literally tripling your speed of thought, action and speech. The freaky thing is that at 60 hours that power is gone and a quad espresso fails to do anything for you at all.

Scariest thing I ever did was drive after about 50 hours of no sleep. Never again.

I'd say around 70.

Three days is quite the maximum and needs a really good time-sink.

Though i was unemployed at the time, so it could've been longer.

Longest for me was 52 hours, followed by 26 hours asleep.
Actual, deep, refreshing, non-stop sleep.

I was doing an all-night 10-pin bowling thing for Children in Need in 1992. My hand was stuck in a claw shape for a few days but my ability to score strikes improved immensely. I even scored my first turkey that night. :)

I have twice done over 4 days awake straight. First time my little brother died and it was impossible to sleep - shock, grief, disbelief all at once - over 3 days.

Second time, my father passed away and that was even worse as we had to fly the body back to Qatar 4+ days.

Actually that reminds me of my NY trip home in June, up at 6.00am Sat morning NY time so that would be (+5) 11.00 UK time, through to 11pm UK time Sunday evening

So that 36 hours. I was dead on my feet though

Pulled a 4 day marathon in a gaming lan. Food, drinks, cigarettes and coffee a plenty, so I had sustenance.

Sometime during the 4th day, we were playing Atomic Bomberman in lan, and my head just came forward onto the keyboard, forehead pressing "space" key, which at the time was bound for deploying bombs.

2-3 rounds pass, and it was the scenario where everyone starts in the middle, naturally I was spawning, deploying bomb, killing most of the people.

One guy turns, really pissed "Who the fuck is the blue guy????!!?!", and noticed me resting my head peacefully on the keyboard. They had quite a laugh.

Tdc is right, things you naturally do with ease, like pickup a cup, or pull a ciggie out of the pack - it takes quite some effort, you fumble a lot. Not to mention I experienced some sort of very short term memory loss, meaning I would start doing something, and mid-action I would forget about what I wanted to do. I was really impaired at Starcraft that day.

Slept 24 hours straight afterwards, woke up, ate, and 4 hours later I was back in bed, slept another 16 hours. Then I was back to normal.

Not comparable I know but when my childhood dog of 15 years died I didn't sleep for about 3 days myself, losing a loved one is something the human mind really struggles to come to terms with and I can't even begin to imagine how much you must have suffered bud.

36 hours i think, but tbh it whas prolly less. In the end i hade a really hard time keeping my eyes open en felt asleep every so now and then, dispite my efforts! Also i'm an notorious alcoholic and don't do the kind of drugs that tend to keep you awake for long periods. Note that alcohol has the exact the opposite(sp?) effect :p

What Raven said, i can sleep anywhere at any time :x

I've been doing LAN parties since 1998 and helped out with the MPUK events from 2000 till late 2007. All I can say it that I've seen a lot of LANdeath and it is so easy to avoid.
Watery fluid (NOT alcoholic), good for you snacks like fruit and cereals and getting at least 4 hours sleep each night will get you through a LAN without being hit by LANdeath too hard. Drinking loads of energy drinks, sugary snacks and stodgy food like pizza will only make you feel urgh by the time you get home. Sure, have a pizza one night... not EVERY night. ;)

Getting up and actually meeting your opponents also helps because you're not sat in your chair the whole time.

86 hours programming for a project and it sent me pretty barmy for a little while after. I stayed away from caffeine which I think helped greatly and ate well during that time but I don't think anything will stop the hallucinations.

After finishing I stupidly went to the pub and managed a half pint before being close to collapse. My walk home, a usual 5 minute walk took me over an hour, of which I can remember nothing. 8 hours sleep followed and I felt like shit for about a week, continuing to see and things. It was however, a remarkable experience, feeling substantial peeks and troughs throughout and I still say to this day, after 24 hours awake, I work considerably faster and better then being fresh although I am always reluctant to do so... health > work and all that.

i had a period last year of 30+ hours awake, sleep for 2 and 30+ more awake, after which i just slept a regular nights sleep (8h for me) and i was fine and dandy.
fuelled by poker, party, alcohol, cigarettes and caffeine.
and while ive also done 40+h waking periods, that 3 day stretch was the worst. not being able to pull off mundane tasks, and also forgetting that you are doing something is pretty fucked up. trying to fry eggs and suddenly drifting off (with eyes open, standing up at the stove) only to notice that i had already burnt my eggs was really scary. but when i went back to my party or poker i was fine.

having a timesink is the defining factor in how long you will actually stay awake i guess.

5 days. Age 14. Big party so I was helped along by various pills, cigarettes and energy drinks. Was pretty fucked by the end though, slept for 2 and a half days on an off.
