Hallo!

Got some glitches on my graphics card and figured a driver update might help. I vaguely recall it being good practice to wipe your drivers with some software before you do this. I vaguely recall Driver Cleaner being the tool for this but they seem to be charging now. Anyone know what the best process for scrubbing drivers and installing the latest is?

Cheers!

I just uninstalled one then installed the other but I'm concerned that's what's caused the problem I'm having. It's a "Display Driver nvlddmkm Stopped Responding and Has Successfully Recovered.". I'm a bit concerned that my card could be on the way out (though yay for lifetime warranty), but hopefully a good driver purge will do the job.

This error is notorious. Can be one of 3 things, either you have a conflict with drivers, as you said (run a driver removing program), a fault in your system memory (run memtest to diagnose this) or it's a fault on the graphics card.

So do you know of a good driver cleaner? As I said it seems driver cleaner is a pay for program now and sod that for a game of soldiers.

I have not uninstalled the old drivers for a long time now. No problems updating, that is with ATI.

I would head over to guru3d.com and see whats the latest tool for removal.

Its a bit retarded - you would have thought nvidia and ATI's uninstaller could do a proper job of uninstalling after all these years of being crap.

Well it's possible it has done a proper job, I've just uninstalled and reinstalled the latest drivers in the standard fashion - I'll see if it's made any improvements and try the cleaners after. Gotta do a memtest too, though I'd expect to see problems elsewhere if I had duff memory.
