Nvdia 200 series pricing shocker! £470 + delivery for a 280 GTX, but then that is launch day at OCUK.

Components » Graphics and Video » NVIDIA GTX 260/280 Series - Overclockers UK

The reviews are good, nice performance, but I'm shocked. Shocked at the power they require, the cooling and the bloody price!

If ATI get their act together and deliver a decent set of cards in the 48x0's then I think I know what most people will be buying!

A 4870 would be the first ATI card I've bought since my 9800Pro in ages past.

It's bloody huge!
How much power would it require?

Trouble is it's not even that much of a leap forward from the current series of cards. They are quicker without doubt, but £300 quicker? I'd stick with my 8800GT and spend 300 quid on something more worthwhile.

Yeah, apparently it draws ~350W at load on it's own!

I doubt there will be any 280GX2's any time soon, else it would end up with it's own box like the Nvidia professional boxes!

I don't think I want Ati software on my comp, nor want to put up with SLI quirks, nor spend £450 on a gfx card! What a time for my card to blow up huh ;-)

Lol, quad sli never worked, well maybe in 1 driver revision, plus the performance was terrible. Quadfire works slightly better I'm told, but it's all a case of diminishing returns!
