I'm also well aware of the tome that was the Moderators discussion - I posted in it. But unless someone can correct me, the only real reason for not having one now is because no-one could wholly agree on who it should be

I dont think any of you wanted to clean it up, you wanted to boot out people pissing you off by refusing to stfu. I know thats annoying, but I still think you guys police this forum well without moderation rights.

There was alot of debate about who it should be but Embattle came out favourite in the end by a long way, due to the amount of time he spends here and his overall responsibility status. TBH though, no-one else would fit the position squarely.

I've changed it so you can open/close your own threads.
We'll see how that goes.
A little nervous about allowing everyone to be able to delete their own threads as, knowing some of you, it might be used as weapon. A close can be undone, a delete cant.

Anyway, I'm keen to make these forums a better place to be as are some of you, so lets see how this experiment goes.

Sorry if anyones said this already, or if the thread is kinda over but.....I can't be arsed to read it.

I don't think people should be able to lock or delete their own threads. What's to stop someone posting a lame insult or a stupid point on a thread and then locking it? It would be totally shit. Totally shit. A thread isn't over until everyone who wants to post, has finished posting, whether the thread owner likes it or not. It's open season once you start a topic, if you aren't prepared to accept this, don't start threads. Everyone wants to voice their opinion on a particular subject if they feel like it.

I even think the edit function should be disabled on each post 60 seconds after it's been posted to stop people changing the sentiment of it. Think before you post and this won't be a problem.

Still, we can see can see how it goes. We used to be able to close threads ourselves and the only time I remember it happening is when Kryten closed the m00 thread as it turned into another pointless flame (which were fashionable at the time).

I'm sure it'll be okay.
