In this case I actually agree with WIPO. In much the same way as the joker who reg'd this on the day that the Halifax and Bank of Scotland announced they were merging to become HBOS needs a sharp slap...

www.hbos.co.uk

I mean come on. A madasafish webbeh. No hyperlinks at all. Registered on the very day. Gimme a break. Happens all the time. If only they'd read the Reg they'd know they've got no chance :)

Aye. However they often get it wrong.

Out of p1mp interest in the football club of the millenia - www.liverpoolfc.tv is a bloody good webbie.

(Soon to be filled with stories of our glorious entry into the semi-finals of the so-called "champions" league) :D

But, where when you book a domain does it say you're not allowed to book domains that might resemble a company name?

Buying something and then selling it on for a higher price when it's in demand has been going on for donkeys years, it's trading. What's difference with domain names?

Tbh, this case of Halifax and Bank of Scotland, well they should have booked it before they announced it. Common sense, surely?

I see no reason why companies should be allowed to bombard Joe Public with their clout to essentially confiscate a perfectly legal purchase.

Actually they use hbosplc instead. It's not for the public so they don't care. It's just so blatent. WIPO consitently finds for big business anyway so if they make it as obvious as this they should realise they've wasted the reg fee :)

There are points for both sides of the argument.

1) Yes - why the fuck shouldn't you be able to buy something and then sell it on for a higher price?

or

2) Everyone's done it. So it'd make the internet SO bloody expensive to register domain names that the *small* guys couldn't justify stumping up.

I shouldn't worry, kanonfodda. Really, you shouldn't.

No. If WIPO followed the UDRP properly then you'd have a genuine interest in the domain since llamastats isn't something you just made up on the same day that (e.g.) AOL and Arthur Anderson announced they were merging to become LlamaStats... and were operating in the UK.

/edit: nice excuse for a p1mp tho :)

I think that you'll find that Liverpool FC are NOT an incorporated company in any way.

Unlike those fucking Manc bastards (and most of the rest of the Premiership).

Just in case no one guessed - I FUCKING HATE MAN U! :upyours:

Well, i can see where WIPO or whatever it is coming from, however they have to be sensable. There clearly is no `liverpool fashion club'. The fact that it lists their other sites underneath( londonfc.com newyorkfc.com parisfc.com romefc.com madridfc.com), pretty much shows that the site serves no purpose whatsoever.

However if there really was a compony/webpage using a URL, and a big compony wanted it, then i'd be disgusted if they got it because they wanted it.

That happens all the time tho because WIPO gets better funded if it gives in to big business. This guy was a dodgy chancer though. Fuck him :)

Oh,ffs,i'm not getting into one of these "you live in Bristol, go support City" arguements, I support ManU and that's it. Besides if I wanted to support a Bristol side it would be Rovers cause there poor and i'd get beaten up otherwise for supporting the 'shitty'

I'd love to see that Bayer Leverkusen or whatever there called smash you to pieces. You scraped a 1-0 win against one of the worst teams left in the Champions League, while we on the other hand kicked one of the best teams asses in Spain

Glory-boy!

Perhaps you don't want to be drawn on that because there's no real argument against it.

Support the team where you come from. Not just because you follow the team that's doing the best!

Bayern Laverkausen the worst team left???? They're going to win the Bundersliga (they're better at the moment than Bayern Munich are - and that's saying something).

You shouldn't mouth off at a team that have beaten you in our last FIVE outings :)
