lol Maldini has won the champions league more times than the scum and Chelsea put together.
And United have won it twice more than your lot of wooly haired blue-nose muppets!
All I need to say to an Everton fan is this...
16 League Titles
11 FA Cups
2 European Cups
2 League Cups
1 Cup Winners Cup
and last but not least....
1 Wayne Rooney![]()
Im a Barcelona fan mainly as my dad was a scout for them
18 league titles
24 FA cup equivalents
2 european cups
4 cup winners cup
and last but not least
1 Ronaldinho who turned scum down for a big club
Convienent switch of allegiance there
Barcelona are a great club of course, but for nearly 30 years Spain has been a much less competetive league than ours though so as great as those numbers are they don't really compare to what Liverpool and United have achieved domestically.
lol why dont they? How can you say the Spanish league is a lot less competitive than the english league? Id take the spanish second tier teams like Seville, Athletico, Espanyol, Villareal over the Evertons, Readings, spurs and Newcastles of the premiership. United won a lot of titles when there was only Arsenal who could mount a challenge. Liverpool, I will give you, because they dominated when none of the teams had rich backers but on the other hand, so did Barca.
Typical man U fan. Cant give credit without putting a spin on things
I havent switched allegiences, I just cant argue the toss for Barcelona, when 9.5/10 football threads are about the premiership![]()
Sorry, you totally mis-understood but let us take a look at the history of those clubs as I said taking the last 30 years into account.
Sevilla have only come to the forefront in the last couple of years and have won La Liga once 60 years ago, Atheltico haven't been a title contender on a regular basis for a long long time. Villareal have worked wonders in the last few years but they are not serious title contenders. Valencia are a strong side but had a 30 year spell where they never made any kind of challenge. Espanyol, play nice football but never won any major trophy.
Over 30 years La Liga has been all about Barcelona and Real Madrid have won the league title 22 times between them. In contrast during the same time period the top league in England has had been won by 9 or 10 different clubs. Look at the diversity of contenders during that time, in Liverpool's era you had Leeds/Villa/Everton/Arsenal/United/Forest/Spurs and probably a couple of others all challenging strongly for the league title. United's era had Arsenal/Chelsea/Blackburn/Liverpool/Newcastle/Villa all make significant challenges in the years that United won. The same cannot be said for many years in La Liga, the vast majority of times Real and Barcelona have finished in first and second with the rest a long long way behind. Much like the Rangers and Celtic senario.
La Liga has not had as much diverse competition for the title and you cannot dispure the statistics Marc.
You took my comments as a slight against Barcelona and the used the old 'United fans can't give credit' stick to beat me with but you see you are unjustified. Do a search on these forums and when Chelsea won league titles you will see that I gave them great credit, I gave Arsenal alot of praise for playing wonder football in reaching the CL final last year and I always gave them credit when they beat us to the league title. You might throw shit at me but it isn't sticking pal.
Now back to Barcelona, they are a great club with a great side, one of the greatest clubs in the world. I don't think any less of them because of what I percieve to be a weaker league, my judgement of them as a great club is based on the kind of football they play and the way they approach playing european games.
To finish I just want to say this, you imply that our 'second tier' sides are lesser than those equivelants from Spain. I have to call foul there, Spurs/Boro have both made very strong challenges in Europe in the last few years, Everton and Villa have proud histories that far exceed ANY of those spanish clubs. Spurs, Everton and Bolton will all be strong challengers for the UEFA cup next year as well because the english style of play is strongly suited to european competition. Sevilla might have the flair to beat any of those sides but will they still be around chellenging in 6-7 years time? History suggests otherwise.

Call 0800 10 10 10 and tell it to someone who cares!

In the 30 years that Barca and Madrid have dominated, a total of 7 teams have won La Liga, a massive 2, behind the 9 that have won the premier league.
You also state that its always the top 2 teams running away with the title. Lets look at the last 6 years shall we, and look at the points difference between the top 4 teams
2007 - Spain 4, England 21
2006 - Spain 14, England 24
2005 - Spain 12, England 34
2004 - Spain 7, England 30
2003 - Spain 17, England 16
2002 - Spain 11, England 16
Also, compare the number of games the top 2 have lost in the spanish league and the english league. Yes, very uncompetitive for sure!
La Liga is also ranked number 1 in europe, based on results in european competitions. How on earth can their teams do better in europe when their league is so uncompetitve, as you say, like the scottish league.
We can dress up our statistics any way we like to provide ammo for our argument. The fact is, you have done La Liga a huge disjustice by saying its not as competetive as the premier league

As I said right at the very begining look at the facts over 30 years, also look at the teams placing 3rd to 5th over that time period. In 22 of those 30 years Barcelona or Real Madrid won the title, no side EVER put up consistent title challenges year after year for a decade like Arsenal did. Arsenal broke the United - Liverpool dominance of english football and continue to be impact players regardless of a poor season this year. Those 5 other spanish clubs you mention who won La Liga during that 30 year period all fell away badly, Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad both managed to break the Madrid/Barcelona dominance for a 4 year period but both teams have since fallen back massively. Bilbao for instance have not won a single peice of silverware in 24 years and Real Sociedad haven't exactly set the world on fire in a long long time. Both teams are on the verge of relegation with 1 game to go, either Bilbao or Real Sociedad will be in the Spanish Segunda next season. My point is that all the clubs who have challenged for a period in those 30 years have fallen away under the strain of trying to match Barcelona and Real Madrid. The same cannot be said of Arsenal and now we have Chelsea threatening to dominate for the next decade, our second tier of sides regularly turn over the top 4 sides and Newcastle may well emerge as a true contender in a few years time given cash to spend. All in all English football is pretty healthy, not as healthy as it was but not I will admit but long term still a much more competitive enity than La Liga.
You would know what it is like then, I haven't seen you win a single arguement about football on these forums since you arrived but then I guess it isn't easy for someone who can't string together a single legible paragraph together. I guess they don't do education at the monkey enclosure though.
Here, have a banana.
lol second tier regularly turn over the top 4, compared to La liga? As I said, compare the total games lost between the top4 teams in La Liga and the Premier league.
I also suggest you look at some of the clubs who have challenged for the premier league and where they are now. Fact is, no team in england has a chance of breaking into the top 4. Where as in La Liga, you have every chance.
As I said, La Liga is ranked the number 1 league in europe. You cant get a higher accolade than that and just as, if not more competetive than the premier league is now.
