Little help please; Video camera's, how to prevent...

So I filmed while I was driving, ofcourse I had the camera in one hand and I thought everything was fine untill I checked the material at home. I was suprised how bad it was.

Because of the road and my seat ( it has pumps so it goes up and down on bumpy roads ) the vid is really shaky.. I really was sure everything was nice because I didnt moved the camera unless I wanted to move it so im sure its cus of the road & seat since you clearly see when i'm turning the cam and when not.

Now the question is, how can I prevent that? Can you buy something were you can put a camera in that holds it steady or what? The quality is great but I need to get rid of the shaking.

Someone told me that I have to hold it with 2 hands to film in a car and driving but thats impossible duh.

Anyone knows if there is something around like that or if there are camera's that show "normal" vids without the shaking parts even if your driving on a road etc?

Any help would be great.

Ofcourse didnt I just said that? Holding a camera in the right hand and left hand on the steer with cruise control on imo, not like you have to pay attention to the camera, you just hold it there and keep your eyes on the road, I tried it in Paris like i said before.

PS: Before someone else also goes crazy, I'm not someone who drives 10 kilometers a day or someone who just got a license. I do 6000 kilometers a week ( 3700 miles? ) I'm an International courier driver, thats what I do for a living, just that you know. I'm used to drive in all kinds of weather, heavy-crazy traffic and other countries! Its a walk in the park for me, its like if you go the store thats how it is for me to drive to Spain, Italy etc

Think you can also get camera's that digitally reduce camera movement these days? I'll let someone that's actually used one comment on if it actually works as you'd expect tho. You've not said what you actually want to do if for tho so whether it would be worth the investment is hard to say. I'm guessing from your first bit that it's not a one off thing or you'd just get someone to sit in the passenger seat and hold it?

You realise that in the UK they actually made that illegal as well due to the number of accidents it was directly responsible for yeah?
I've almost been hit by several of those particular cretins showing no attention to where they are actually driving.

So tell me, in how many countries have u been and wished that you had 'something' taped?
Wait, lets rephrase that. Didnt you ever wanted to show some footage to family/friends of how cool/bad some countries/places are? But nevermind you dont get it unless your seeing the same things that I see... Its quite interesting to see how it is actually ( IE. border police being corrupt in East-European countries etc ).

@ Golena, Mabs and Overdriven ( if you all three own a car that is ): So you never changed the radio or were busy with it while driving, smoked a cig while driving ( if you smoke ), talking on a phone, a little bit day dreaming, driving to fast ETC??!
I can keep going, the list is so huge, accidents happen, everyone on the road does something that is wrong or that isnt "allowed". And if one of you dont even own a car or dont drive further then the store well you shouldnt even comment tbh.

Who ever whined about the cruise control, did you ever drove between 12-15h a day?! I do it almost every single day ( 6 out of 7 days ). Thats about 1200-1600km straight. Lets see how fast that you want cruisecontrol on your vehicle, it will be a Gods gift then.

And every day I have atleast 2 "close calls" while I'm paying attention but the others not, being cut off countless amounts of times, breaking for no reason, to late seeing that i'm breaking, people texting w/o knowing that they already changed 2 lines and getting really close to me that I have to throw away my vehicle etc. Thats the 'road', it is unpredictable...

But hey why am I even discussing this with perfect drivers.

I also dont need to take my eyes off the road to change the radio as the controls are on the steering wheel
Why dont i do the above?
a) because if the police catch me its a £80 fine and 3 pts
b) I dont want to be the one who kills someone because of plain stupidity

Seriously, I'll invite you to come with me for a few day's. Lets see what you have to say then when we get back. I dont think you get the point... When I leave my house I'm mostly away for a few days or a full week, so I'm on the road every single minute and stuff like this is NORMAL. I'll try and explain it a bit...

So I drive 6000+km a week ( 3700+ miles ) thats what most people dont even drive in 1 or 2 months. This is not just a 10 miles trip from your home to your work or the store. When you do so many miles you have more chance on "close calls" and thats why it happens almost every day.

When I'm driving in Milan, Madrid, Paris and so on this happens. ITS HUGE AND CRAZY TRAFFIC. Did you ever drove in Milan, Paris, Madrid in rush hour? You have "motorbikes" incoming from every direction, people who make from 1 line roads 2 lines and so on, people who crash into you from behind etc. And your saying its my fault then, dont let me laugh. If you havent done it for yourself you should go do it and then talk to me.

When I'm on the autobahn and someone cuts me off its my fault? When I'm on the autobahn and someone brakes for no reason just in front of me its my fault? When I'm on the autobahn and someone his tire blows up its my fault? When I'm on the autobahn and someone is doing 70km/u being a real danger to others its my fault? When someone is texting with his cellphone and is changing lines with out knowing it because his face is looking down its my fault? NO NO NO NO BUT I HAVE TO FUCKING AVOID IT. And that are "close calls". I can even name more things but you get the point. This is completly normal. Talk with any driver you want he will say the same thing.

But ok its my driving style. Its easy to accuse me of bad driving if you dont even do it. If you drive so many miles this stuff happens every day. Like I said its like this and you can come with me and witness this for yourself.

You know the saying....? Being a driver for a living is standing with one leg in the grave and the other leg in jail. <- so true.

As you've explained there's many many idiots out there on the road.

If you actually end up in an accident that kills or injures someone (possibly including you) i'm fairly sure that the fact it was 80% their fault will be of little comfort.

As someone who's actually been involved in road accidents (one of them was my fault) the line between one of those 2 close calls and a day you'll remember for the rest of your life is maybe smaller than you might imagine. The fact that the person in front of you is a bigger cretin is more reason why you should be fully concentrated on the road and not on what your filming out the window.

theres no excuse. if you drive you should pay attention. yes it sucks when you drive 8 hours a day (thats max in i dk think per driver before he sleeps atleast 1 hour (probably more)) but thats a part of the job. you mention alot of situations thats not your fault, but what about those which is yours?

Yes, I held a camera for 2 minutes while driving which I did to test the quality of it and then asked for a device to put a camera in so I shouldnt hold it anymore. Sure thats my fault but did I hurt anyone or did someone had to avoid a collision because I filmed for 2 minutes? Nope.

And about the faults, sure everyone makes mistakes on the road, your only human and sometimes things go wrong.
You question my "faults" like you know who I am and how I drive and what faults I make. But yeah I do make sometimes errors on the road just like everyone else, I just mentioned those faults because he said I'm a bad driver if you have a few close calls a week. While this is completly normal stuff for reasons I put in an other post.

PS: about the sleeping hours, I dont drive a truck but a van so I dont need to rest after 8 hours and I can drive as many hours as I want by the law.

It's not that one thing that everyone is complaining about. It's the arrogant.. It wasn't dangerous cos i'm such a fooking fantastic driver comments that you've repeated constantly afterwards.

Probably 90% of the people on this thread have done something equally as stupid at some point in their life while driving. The difference is they looking back on it would admit that it was foolish, where as your apparently such a good driver that you can drive one handed while watching telly without effecting your driving performance.

That's the issue, not the actual act in itself. The fact that you can't see why it was stupid in hindsight is why everyone is saying your a crap driver, and it's hard not to agree with them! That very paragraph i've quoted pretty much summs up the fact that because you didn't hurt anyone that time that doing it again would be completely risk free!!
