bahs, my linux eclipse has decided to stop loading sun wtk mobile devices :(

imo eclipse is picky on any platform, and things have to be just so. anyway, I do window > preferences > Java ME > device management > manual install > point it at the Sun 2.5.2 WTK dir, and no joy.

Any thoughts?

turns out it's a bit thing. my entire workstation is 64, the WTK is 32. installing the ia32 tools is not enough. it's either 32b java all the way or nothing :(

Solution:

remove disgusting 32b horridness from main workstation
dl 32b linux image
install virtualbox
install 32b image into vb
install eclipse
install WTK

hope it works...

Lousy WTK unsupported by Sun^H^H^H Oracle, and the full J2ME SDK is no better (also 32-bit binary badness). I would have hoped that someone out there would have written a pure Java toolchain by now, but it seems not (or my google-foo is bad tonight!).

no, your googling skillz are just fine. it's just a sucky world :/

running Eclipse off the 32b VM works just fine though... at least I get to be nerdy :)
