Linkdead all the time and sometimes instantly when i login

Well i have huuuge problem with linkdead. I'd like to hear from others who experienced the same. I have tried alot of stuff and i'm not really into the BIOS stuff and all that. I have ATI Radeon 9600 pro Sapphire :eek2:

It's not a problem at your end, but at OpenTransit. I'm getting similar problems though, I can't even stay logged in for five mins without being kicked. Kind of annoying when you consider I only renewed my subs on Thursday

This is just bull, We pay to have a service provided that makes this Lag/LD issues GOA's problem imo. I dont pay GOA money to LD 8-10 times per night.

Sure I might seem picky but I aint excatly rich being a student and tbh this sucks. I am seriously considering not renewing account until problems get solved. I am pretty sure there wont be no refunds at all for all the problem ppl have been having, because this isnt GOA's "problem" so they can just stick their head in the sand and pretend its not there. Atleast thats the impression I get from all this.

1st day of really bad Linkdeaths started for me yesterday.
Would stay up 10-15 min then instaLD.
I was running 3 accounts, sperarate PCs, thru a wireless router , usually they all went down but not invariabley.
Being on Excalibur or Gorre didn't seem to make a difference.
Pingplotting from the south of England there seemed to be a vague pattern of lagspikes from both the London and French end of Opentransit, and also at Excalibur itself, nothing huge in the 10 minues I ran it , but certainly 100-200ms spikes at each of those points.

Of course not - even though using your argument "its the cinema's problem".

We have just got to sit back and trust opentransit are working on a solution. As already stated by GOA GM's they have raised the issue with opentransit - I don't see what else they can do.

Last few days had lag but only one or two LD's, today its got worse. Hope its resolved soon, its far from acceptable.

I assumed yesterday's 20 LD's were because of Open Transit. Turned out that though most of them corresponded with periods of bad Open Transit lag, the real cause was a bad network cable here. When replaced, it got a fair bit better.

Basically the open transit lag doesn't often LD me, but if there is anything else bad going on (such as my dodgy cable) it did.

The lesson I learned is just because Open Transit is rubbish, doesn't mean that's the only cause, so I recommend not assuming it is !

That was imo a crappy comparisement. While I can see your point the difference is that the cinema doesnt solely rely on the car as a means of transport ppl can still get to the cinema by subway, bus or walk.

In GOA's case they rely solely on the network as an access to their service.

Ah well actually there are advanced, alternative protocols for delivering the network traffic without actually using the network cables. See RFC1149 for example: http://rfc.net/rfc1149.html

Well I guess its all down to our own special way of getting to the servers. I live in London, for me they are the worst they have ever been. Ill sum it up:-

(anytime prior to mystery open transit stuff that didnt cause the server to go down, but was widely publiced,coniciding with the NF download start):-
I had no lag that caused frequent LDs, never, not in two or something years.

Between that time and about Friday last week:-
I and large groups of people I know went LD all at once, with annoying frequency.

Friday- now:- completely unplayable, Linkdeaths from 1-15 mins from entering the game (though I did have an ok patch earlier today before 5pm).

Never been this bad for me. Ever.

While its not exactly GOA's fault withe the Random LD's, its definetly not doing them any good.

Infact with the server crashes when large RvR groups go out, the Encounter bugs in artifacts, and the random LD's its going to kill them.

Now they seem to have gone back to were they were a few months ago, with no updates about problems.

I feel sorry for requiel and zenythe, who must be pissed off because of this, is going to be hard to be a gamesmaster of a server that doesn't want to play properly..

While it may not be goa's fault, almost 4 weeks of LD's and server crashes that affect paying customers fun is not acceptable no matter how you sugar coat it.

What is concerning is that over the four weeks it is getting progressively worse and nothing is apparently getting through to OpenTransit to make them take action. GOA are not their only customer so I find it rather bizarre that they haven't been bombarded with enough complaints from other customers everywhere in the past month to make them fix the issue.

This started the day the NF dl was made available and GOA resources were spread to handle that and Gorre. I suspect that has had something to do with what we are experiencing. Even if, as GOA claim, it isn't the total cause of the problem, I suspect it is compounding it.

And yes there do seem to be an increasing number of in-game bugs and weirdnesses.

We have already given up trying to rvr in the past month, if things continue NF is going to be unplayable when it finally arrives .

Two of my guildies were experiencing LDs very often, usually within 5 minutes of LDing. Both had integrated network cards.

Both of them switched to a separate card and LDs stopped.

I have integrated and rarely LD...

So dunno, might be some bad mobos out there, have you tried switching your card?

Aye. I'm in the UK, on Telewest. I get the lag that I've had since the 'open transit maintenance/NF download' time, but it's not got any worse (other than when I had the dodgy network cable). If it's got a lot worse, I'd suggest it's worth looking at other possible causes to be safe.

(The dodgy cable was visible in pingplotter, basically was showing 5-10% lost packets everythere, rather than just in Opentransit / Wanadoo Portal, which is usual)

Utterly unplayable situation on Pry at the moment. Destroying raids etc.

What is the point of setting up anything to do - at ALL, whether that be RvR, PvE or anything - when this keeps happening? It needs to be sorted, goddammit.

hmmm I run 2 accounts over 2 machines. I'm getting this problem on 1 of them and not the other. Only started over last week or 2. Driving me crazy

Latest Anti-v, Ad-awared, winxp sp2 and fully patched. Latest video drivers, bios etc. (on both machines)

True, that would be a waste of time, however, I would stop paying in advance for a service that is hard to get due to constant traffic jams everytime I tried to access the show, which indirectly makes it the cinemas problem if enough customers dont find it worthwhile to pay for a service they cant access, at least if the cinema owner likes a nice steady cashflow. Telling the cinema owner why you chose not to pay for his services could give him incentive to apply the right pressure in the right spot to make sure something is made to solve the traffic congestion.
