"Don't like"

It basically turned when my mum got the internet and tried to invite me as a friend on facebook. I pretend I don't use it any more now.

but if you don't click on all the things that you like, how are people supposed to know what things you like!?

Err...you could always just give the internet a miss. Your social life will go on quite merrily without the internet for 3 weeks. Try it. If it doesn't stop talking shite.

There's no Facebook on my machine here.
Code:
Adblock
http://*.facebook.*
http://*.fbcdn.net/*

Hosts
0.0.0.0 www.facebook.com
0.0.0.0 facebook.com
0.0.0.0 fbcdn.net
My wife texted me to ask why FB wasn't working. I asked if she was using my machine (yes she was). I told her to use another machine because I was banning FB from my machine. :)

Because that's the way society is these days. UK being one in the forefront of this, even if they've been at it for ages before.((meaning that UK are often "left or right!", no gray zone, in discussions. It's just the way the politics(and thus country) are built there))

Things are measured by how popular they are and people are shunned and ridiculed by what they like or don't like.

Personal taste, to each their own and all that is often preached, but rarely upheld by people and it's easy to prove also;

Do you care if someone likes bananas?

How do you react if you see someone wearing a burberry cap, track suit and driving a tuned jap car?

If the second example did bring up an assumption, or a judgement in your mind, you just showed that you limit your opinion on freedom of personal taste. You say "to each their own" as long as it fits your area of comfort.

Now, that being the basis, how do you expect the largest free media of the world to operate? A poll of likes and dislikes ofcourse.

Just as easily as the playgrund on 2nd grade, the internet is all about being popular, conformative and agree with the majority to secure a quiet and comfortable spot to sit in so you feel nice and happy at the end of day, with as little confrontation as possible. Facebook has a large female base, and female mind requires this "secure spot" (generally) more. Just how it is.

It's not necessarily right, or fair, or even surprising, but it also isn't anything new, the behaviour just has adapted to the net and that's my answer to that much more simple question :p

True, I may find loads of peoples lifestyles rather annoying but I wouldn't
want to live in a world where they were actually banned.

Except maybe North Face wearing mouthbreathers who swarm round Londis.
