it has been months that i'm looking for a spellcrafter..
i've contacted 5-6 different people and all of them or do not respond, or they ask to much, or i send them the list of materials and never do the job.

Heremita: don't know what is too much for the job. If you pay the expenses to make the gems (material costs) AND the amount of money I can farm in equal time on PVE raids for the time* (and no money for leveling SCing) I might do it, but since SCing is time consuming, I feel it might be also in too expensive range. But who would like to DO SC (hard work, alone) without any benefit and lose money on it?

* costs of the time is based on money earned on dragon raids, etc.

Here's the reason why i'd never even bother responding to people that wern't good mates on requests for any crafting of any kind.

Back in the SI days crafters were happy to sit around for several hours crafting for a few hundred gold profit, because that was alot of money back then. Then ToA hit and you could farm over 10p an hour easily if you knew where to go, yet people still wanted you to spend 2+ hours crafting for them and normally sent you a long stream of obsenaties if you even asked for a few plat profit for time spent. This meant every crafter in the game simply stopped doing answering, and went off to farm items instead. Much more fun, and much much better cash rewards for doing so.

Don't expect crafters to be jumping up and down to do your order if you offer them 1/10th of the money you make just while they are actually crafting your order however.

Heremita: I have explained the price fair and square.

There are people who helped me: For them crafting is at material costs (or free) since I help them.

For people who don't help: If their time is too valuable to help others, my time is too valuable to help them. So they pay the income I would get otherwise.

Since I benefit from having my SCer and being able to help my friends, I don't ask for a return on investment (from leveling SCer).

If you think YOUR time is valuable, but OTHERS should spend their time for you and LOSE money, etc. on it, then you might consider how unfair your demand is. And how rude comments will influence your chances for getting any kind of help.

Edit: on classic (where no easy farm to farm money), severely underpopulated servers (where it is hard to farm) and where people help each other and I see it, and I see groups (xp, other PVE, etc) where people help each other, the pricing is different and cheaper.

why do i charge 1plat per item??

cos i have a sc'er to do all my own stuff, and it is a pain in the arse to sit somewhere and just craft - boring as hell, so to compensate for this i charge my fee. Dont like it - dont buy - its your choice.

I'm not doing it to make a living out of crafting, rather as compensation for my time and effort.

I tend to contact everyone who make a lfg SCer post in the crafting forum with my offer. (500g per piece)

500g per piece seems to be the standard price some are cheaper some are more expensive.

I only do SC'ing jobs for guildies (for costs + 10 %), cuz it's not really my favorite activity when I finally have time in game - not a big buisness, i agree, but on the other hand they also help me out when I need it.
Maybe SC'ers ask such big amounts of money cuz they don't really wanna do buisness...?
Making 4 99%+ gems for an OC'ed item takes maybe ½ hour or more, so an evening in game will easily be wasted for me, if I get a SC'ing order.
Many ppl don't think about that, when they complain prices or if a SC'er doesn't wanna SC for them.

In the time I could make 300 gold spellcrafting which is boring as crap for your prices I could of easily farmed upwards of 5 plat doing something infinately more intersting.

Yes I must be mad to tell you to find another spellcrafter really.. I'm not under any conditions going to spend an entire evening bored out of my scull to help you and have you 4 plat up at the end of it, sorry. I'd happily do it for 250g a piece or less, but only for someone I knew well and I liked, not for some random person that PM'ed me that i'd never see again.

Chan + brothers farming: 1 hour = approx 10 kills (all mobs drop 5 items, that's 50 items.) If each item is worth 100g there's 5p. Ring of the torrents used to sell for 3p (more like 1 or 2p now).. i'll normally get a minimum of at least 2 of these.


There's 2 simple examples of how I can earn 10 times the amount of money your offering.
If you dislike the prices people are charging, level an SC'er yourself and never have the hassle again. If you can't be bothered then don't insult those that actually bothered because they don't want to bend over backwards for a stranger. It's a classic example for why I don't craft for people anymore, and probably why most other people only craft for good friends as well. Not just asking, but demanding SI prices just isn't worth the crafters time anymore unless they actually like doing it.

The point as I see it is not whether u can or cannot pharm big amounts of plats within a few hours.

Basically I agree with Golena (though I 'd prefer putting it in a less sharp way )
When u buy some1's SC'ing service, keep in mind, that the price does not only need to cover the costs and service in time right at the time of the crafting - personally it has taken me almost 3 years and alot of plats (not to mention wasted quality gaming experience, which does not include pressing a key every 30 seconds).
If u can find some1 who will do ur crafting for 400 gold or less a piece, that's great - but ppl have reasons for their prices, it's offers u can take or leave.

Imo there's no reason for pointing fingers at ppl who inform of their prices...

Also I think, that many crafters have the same experience as me: Too many ppl wanting the service at a time and price that suit them - and many don't take a polite 'no' for an answer. This could also have infuence on the fact, that most crafters lost the will to craft for some1, they don't know.

Go craft a scer and see what fun it is. Scing takes time and money, roughly 2 hours to do 5 or 6 bits if you are oc by 5 points. Therefore you are not only paying for materials but also for someones time and effort. Also it costs roughly 11 plat to get lgm status on scing so why should scers not make a little bit of profit?

I also don't spend 24 hours a day in the game. In the past when i've farmed those 2 things and put the stuff on my CM it's gone within 2 days. That's perfectly fast enough for me to buy what I need.. If I needed the money in 2 hours then the amount your offering wouldn't even pay for an average rog these days so..

Can I get some spellcrafting done by you for 250g then?
Remember that if you don't say yes your a robber (and if you don't have a spellcrafter, don't worry i'm happy to wait a week or 2 for you to level one).

If you don't want to do sc for 250g to strangers just shut up and stay in your corner.

And amusingly enough that's exactly what crafters are doing, which probably explains why you've gone a month without getting it done.

I think this is the response you'll get from much of the crafting community, yes.

It's never been about the plats for me.. What it's about is being insulted by people that can't be bothered to level their own crafters because I won't take a huge chunk of my playing time and spend it catering to them for next to no profit.
If people are going to waste 2 hours of their time (and it's pretty much what your doing for the profit involved in crafting these days) then the least you can do is be grateful they are spending the time to do it for you. No instead you call them greedy and walk off.

Really, if your going to come whine at people on a public forum, at least have half a leg to stand on.

Selling is done with CM, so it doesn't take any time...

Bet on it, when you *sell* drops you don't try to get good old low prices...

And imho if you can call honest crafters "robber", they have every right to express their oppinion about you. If you reserve the right to comment, they can comment too. See?

If you *demand* that they should lose money and work for you without fun or any reward, but you refuse to help, they have perfect reasons to say you are a selfish, arrogant moron and a total asshole.

Yet, Golena was pretty diplomatic about it. Fact is fact: if you DEMAND that others should WORK for you and LOSE money, and get no respect from you, you deserve every bad comment from crafters.

Decided to do a little research - so went to ur house, Heremita, and took a look at ur consignment merchant. This is what I saw:

A few examples from the Market Explorer shows, that on every item I compared the market prices, ur prices were in the very top...a few examples:

Huleros Champion Remains: Ur price 1 p - cheapest price 50 g
Abaddon's Remains: Ur price 1 p - cheapest price 60 g
Geryon's Remains: Ur price 1 p - cheapest price 40 g
Melos Wave Master's Remains: Ur price 1 p - cheapest price 1 g
Marricus' Journal: Ur price 2 p - cheapest price 50 g (for the whold book)
Phoebus' Letters 1o3: Ur price 1 p - cheapest price 10 g
