Levels and rvr

Posted a bit in the Hib forum, and got to thinking. Yes, it's one of those "even nostalgia ain't like it used to be" - posts. Just someone tell me, is it really like this out there, or have I jsut been horribly unlucky?

About 6 months ago people would stilll rvr even -without- being lvl 50, realm rank Stupid, and buffed to hell. A group of low 40's still had a fighting chance, as long as they stayed out of Emain. Nowadays ... once you cap out of Caledonia, there seems to be no option but pl'ing to 50, or learning to like PvE (and I count myself lucky, I actually do like soloing).

Maybe it's the idea that unless you're 50, you cannot rvr because that's what everyone else will be (which creates a nice, self-perpetuating sort of stupidity). Maybe it's because with pl'ing becoming the norm, everyone and their dog can get to 50 within a week of starting the game (I had 40+ days /played before my first 50 ... your average pl assassin has what, 3?). In any case ... with fg's of sc'd-to-hell 50's overruning every inch of the frontiers, is there anything out there for people who level the non-cheating way and maybe want a break and a few rp's at 43?

Ahhh the old days, My first time out in rvr was at lvl 24 with a full earth thuerg :) Relic defence was 20+ ahh the good times :D

Now it seems everyone 50, Which i kind of agree with. 50 = finished spec, Mostly capped stats and resists. and a good knowledge of the toon you've choosen to play. With that said, The guild am in ran a fg other night with a few lvl 40's tagging along from an alliance group, Was actually fun to have them along, They died pretty fast when attacked, But i think they had fun all the same. And they made more rps then they gave away so everyone was happy. :)

I start RvRing with my toons when they reach around 40ish. It is not really organised, and you don't get into many (decent) groups at all, but it is still doable if you keep your head around you.

Especially if you can get close to some "static" RvR such as MMG-stand offs, keep-defence/attack etc.

But yes ... "in the days of yonder (longer ago then 6 months though :D)" you could RvR as level 30 - but of couse, there were not (m)any of higher level :D

But these days - due to the maturity of the game (not the players - please note ;) ) - level 50 is nothing anymore. Now it is calculated in RPs and SC.

Definitely go on keep takes. A 40-something earth wizard is worth more than a 50 armsman in those situations. Also form up small groups and go hunting in the enemy's regular high level XP spots in the frontiers. There are often small groups of 40-somethings there that you could get a good fight with.
