Beacause you cant thats why ,
if you want to Bg0 you have to level your char the normal way

It turns out you can / level to 19 and still get into BG0 - involves much lemming-like suiciding and buying const back though.

well, since your XP is checking instead of level, could you go bg1 with your level 1 char, as soon as you did a /level 20 on ur trainer, but not 'dinged' ?

Very interesting question tbh. I never thought of that, theoretically it should be possible.
