Anyone know Leicester ?

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&h...52.643897,-1.126099&spn=0.144155,0.43396&om=1

Its almost certain I'll be moving there next year so looking for somewhere that's within reach of the town but not a ... urm .... bad area.

Work will be around the North-East area, Thurmaston/Wanlip

I'd ideal want to live the North-West side, closer to the motororway to get home but missing the town centre to get to work, also be within cheap-taxi distance to get home when drunk :)

Was born up the road from Leicester (Melton Mowbray, home of pork pies and Stilton Cheese :) ) and lived in Leicester for a while with some mates as well.

Decent enough place really, same as any other big city. Some nice bits, some crap bits (Highfields, St Matthews, the Saff)

Couple of decent clubs when I lived down there, dont know if theyre still going.

One of the guys I work with is thinking of Melton Mowbray - but I prefer a 5-10min drive to get to work in the mornings :)

But for me, I just need to know which areas on that map to avoid, pretty much any on the north-northwest side is where I would rather live

Groby - Anstey (I hear they are better than the ones below the A46 - Glenfield - Beaumont Leys - Birstall) but I have no idea !

Dont bother with Glenfield/Beaumont Leys

Anstey's ok.

Thurmaston and Syston are alright and are close as well with the new ring road and a connection straight onto the A46
