I agree that he should have known better, but it wasnt really a public speaking moment and you cant expect someone to watch their words 24/7, which seems to be what he should be doing if he doesnt want to get into trouble.

First time was worse, I wanted to give him the benifit of the doubt and say it was a one off, because I like him as a pundit and he does seem like a nice guy. Free speech doesn't mean the ability to say anything you like and not expect a reaction. Anyone with any intelligence would be very careful over the issue of race if it had previously cost them their job. I'm not bothered personally, but it's another example of what an idiot 'Big Ron' is.

The problem is... some people think they have a license to be offended these days. The phrase 'it's PC gone mad!' used to annoy the bollocks off of me, but now i feel it's fairly apt. In all fairness, what Ron said inititally in calling Desailly a 'thick lazy n-igger' (i've never understood why that was always reported using the censored term 'n**ger') was going a wee bit too fair really, fair play if people got offended by that. But this? For god's sake it was just a throw away joke. It may have not been funny, it may have even been in fairly poor taste, but no one could seriously get offended by it unless they are a fuckhead. And no one cares what fuckheads think. Poor Ron indeed.

I also think all the fuhrer, sorry furor (goddamn) over Prince Harry's Afrikacorps fancy dress outfit was similarly absurd. It's not like he was actually endorsing the swastika or even wearing an SS officer's uniform. Where these fuckheads get their mentality from worries me. They're like ambulance chasing claims lawyers in their dogged pursuit of something to get offended over.
