I've managed to pretty much teach myself Japanese and Italian. Beginners levels but teach yourself works.

I used CD books initially.

I would get personal 1-2-1 tuition. Did that for my Japanese for a year and it was EXCELLENT.

The only way to REALLY learn a language is to live in the country where its natively spoken.

I wouldn't go for internet tuition. The internet can't correct your pronounciation or answer ad hoc questions you might have. Get a teacher. Its so worth it.

Not saying your a dummy but have you tried looking on Amazon for <insert Language> for Dummies?

They usually come with CDs and are pretty cheap, and with the CD at least you can hear how the words sound.

I picked up Japanese for Dummies, as it can be difficult to pronounce some of the words

Good luck with learning Spainish though ;)
