Hello Chaps

Just a quick question, is there any way at all we (I) could have a MAME forum in this lovely sparkly looking (read CAD/Tartan crossover) all to do with the lovely world of the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator?

This project is now absolutely huge, 3500 games supported and great for nostalgic trips down arcade memory lane.

I understand the legal implications over the spreading of roms, most manufacturers nowadays dont mind you using their old arcade machine roms as long as u dont profit from them and there is a hell of a lot of titles that bear discussion in here, id just like a nonpopup forum relating to this.

Im sure a lot of people would like to maybe have the same and its a huge phenomenon and to have a forum here would be ace.

What do you think?

If the fact that MAME is gonna provoke to much controversy as a forum a 'retro' gaming forum would be cool too ;)

In fact, have a look urself at what games are supported..

This is the .62 version of mame, there is a .63 just released but thats the command line version (bleh) but i guess theyll soon get round to actually making an installer.

Install it and have a gander, if it still doesnt interest you, there is something seriously wrong with ya

True true, but not exactly what i meant.

But yeah i guess it is the closest thing to a mame forum except theres no console involved ;)

Unless u go and do something bad like 'chip' ur console, i mean who on earth are gonna do that *cough*

BTW that Emu Loader is pretty damn fine.

Id just like anything mame related into a single forum.. If its too similar to consoles i guess i can shut up but imo it aint the same

The main problem is there isn't really enough interest to warrant a whole other forum. BTW I am about to post a MAME related thread in the GC forum, I realise that this is making my arguement seem a bit less good but, I rock, so i'm allowed.

A general emulation forum would be decent, but most of the newbie fags in here would spam it with like "HAY LADZ :d CS RULES Y PLAY OLD GAMES =0000"

I went to all this trouble to get my kiky x joypad thing working, download mame, and buy licenses for thousands of old games.. and I can't find anywhere to download them!

mame.dk has none, which sucks.. do I have to kazaa it? that'd be gay :/

just register and you can dl all those games you have a license for

Only every single friggin game ever.

If u have the licenses i also suggest getting hold of a local tombstone guy, pm if u need or google tombstones uk.

A VERY handy service even if u are on dsl

Use MAME to check the file name always followed by a zip, go to mamedk and search within the site with said program and ull have a hell of a lot of less pain, for some reason mame dk doesnt always like to show you what it has

How do you get licenses for these things? The manufactureres could prolly charge like £5 or so for a license and offer rom downloads that would be good. The ones that are left.

Just use the consoles forum?

Its all the same stuff tbh & the only reason I put up a "no roms" announcement was cos it could get BW/Game in trouble, doesn't mean you can't talk about the latest releases, etc though :p

Howcome a forum entitled "Kittens" exists?

As far as I can see its just for all the BW regulars to suck each other's knobs:

"LOLOLOLLL you were stoned MaN! you are the sh1t" etc etc.

An emulation forum might actually be put to good use.

no idea
im quite surprised they're re-offering the roms for dl anyway. Sharereactor have every single rom spread over about 7 cd's, but remember chaps YOU NEED THE LICENSE OKAY!!!

It was discovered that that message was bollocks, it was put there when they (temporarily) ran out of bandwidth money, and probably didn't want to piss off the donators.
