The T2xx Samsung series suffer from backlight bleeding, it's very aparent, and their standby to powerup time is horrendous.

Excellent contrast and brightness, rounded colours, feature full, but if you're more than a casual PC user, the bleeding and the powerup time are hard to swallow.

I'd also have a look at LG, we got a 22" LG Tv/monitor combo from richer sounds for £180, and it is very nice. Really nice as both a TV and monitor with lots and lots of inputs. Built in freeview too.

I will only say as the previous speakers; go for 22 ! :)

I have an "old" Samsung 226BW, and I still love it as much as when I got it a couple of years ago.

i dont understand, what bleeding? and the monitor loads up in 5 seconds. Hardly time consuming

I use mine for my laptop and mostly for my 360

Has to be said Samsung are one of the best panel makers, just read reviews online of whatever you decide upon and you'll do well.

I have 1 24inch dell which is a sammy panel, 2 23 inch samsungs and 1 22 inch LG - the sammys are definitely the better screens.

I bought a 22 inch Samsung in the end. Its great. Still getting used to the size! My old one was a Samsung (Syncmaster 18 inch) and lasted 9 years before it starting packing up, so hopefully this will see me out a good few years before I replace it

This is what backlight bleeding means on T240

And 5 seconds is enough to miss important messages in the POST screen. Not important for someone who doesn't care about the POST screen, but quite important for savy people.

Up until a week ago i had 2 Samsung SM2443BW on my desk at work. A customer returned then as faulty and i had to test them. They were fine his on board gfx could not run one though let alone 2. They somehow had been forgotten so i ran them until a stock take last week when they were stolen back :( Now its HP LP1965 they look little and rubbish :(

I can honestly say i dont have that bleeding problem with my monitor

I do mostly use it for my 360 and no problems there. And my laptop is always loaded up anyway.

Everyone in my house use Samsungs, and another housemate is an IT admin like me and swears by them also. So by that evidence i will continue to use them and love them. Just like everyone else i know who use them on our advice and love them

Well, I had the chance to play with a T220 and a T240 and they both exhibited the same problem - standby to full power on time or switching inputs has a very large delay, which for me is simply inacceptable.

Do this Sparx, hook it up to your PC, power the monitor, then power the PC - tell me that you get the whole POST screen, from the very beginning. And bleeding is only aparent in a low light enviro, with a dark background - the downside for the user is that in certain movies or games, the picture quality will be altered by light bleeding into the image.

I have a Samsung myself, Sparx, and what i'm saying here is not that Samsung sucks, all i'm saying is the T2xx series and other models using the same panels well... suck.

I have the 226BW model, and it's a kick ass display, panel type A, wonderful colours, crisp contrast, anything you'd want, it has it (except vertical tilt, but oh well :) ).

perhaps i never notice it cause my laptop just clicks into the docking station then output to

I think we can agree though that Samsungs do make fantastic monitors

I have a T240....
Don't really notice any bleeding, but the POST thing is very true.
Also happens when you hook up more than 1 device and switch inputs.... takes a while for it to display the picture.
But I can live with it. It's a great monitor!

is it normal for lcd monitors to start ghosting?
i have a pretty old 17'' samsung, its got awesome viewing angles/colors, and never had any ghosting problems, yet suddenly this week it has started ghosting. its a good couple of years old, but ive never heard of monitors starting ghosting with age.

i guess it doesnt really matter, since im gonna be buying a 22'' in february, just kinda weird that my current monitor started doing this right now.

I had my Synchmaster for 9 years and didn't get any bleeding. On the otherhand I had a Compaq laptop and its LCD started bleeding after 3 years. My new 22 inch widescreen Samsung comes on line pretty much immediately after I turn it on. So whoever out there hates Samsungs, none of that shit has happened after owning a samsung for 9 years before the power module broke (display still perfect)
