last saturday server downtime

cos all the threads have been closed on it i've had to start a new one.

there was finally an official response to why our european server was down :

Basically, it appears that Werner had two issues this weekend. First, it was up and running, however, it could not accept new players. We are investigating this problem and will be resolving it soon. This is not a server-specific issue, so it is a high priority to make sure it does not happen again.

On Sunday, there was work occurring across the Internet that resulted in a downed cluster somewhere between Werner and the Login server. Uptime is a very high concern for us, and so we are also working on making changes that will reduce the chance of these sorts of issues going undetected for such large periods of time.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but we have learned from these experiences and are making the necessary changes to keep them from happening again.

which basically, if you were in irc, was pretty much what the techies had managed to gather by themselves as you could query the server at werner.planetside.com but not actually do anything about it.

last night's 15 mins down time looks to be the same as what he's calling sunday. i couldn't ping the login server.

anyway, at least they are aware of the problems and not just ignoring it

just a shame that there's no 24/7 support access for us as all it would have taken was a reboot rather than sitting around for 9 hours
