Any suggestions on best places to buy laptops and best value models, baring in mind I don't want to go anywhere near PC World?

Dunno about places to buy (I always get mine through work), but you'd do well with the HP Compaq nx5000. Good solid laptop.

Of course, it depends what you're intending to do with it - I can't vouch for the above from a gaming perspective, sadly.

Of course, you could get a Dell - their laptops are better than their desktops, I'm told. Couldn't comment, although I DO know that Dell's support is utter wank.

It's just for interwebing and watching DVDs really, doesn't matter about games so much; about £700 or so.

The Dell Outlet store does some fine laptops at a cheap price.

They are refurbished but come with a years warranty. The stock changes daily/hourly but there are some right bargins to be had.

Cheers, I was actually asking for someone else who's since been told, 'He's not bloody 'avin one!', still it's made me think of yet another way to dispense with my own money. :)
