You can do it, but it's certainly not entirely easy - people often forget the only difference between some 300 pound laptops and 800 pound laptops later in the range is the ram, processor and case installed, using the same motherboards.
Definitely not easy or for the faint of heart though, that's certain - or if you've a thing about screws
Best place to find a laptop processor will be ebay otherwise parts brokers will charge a fortune. I don't know exactly what processor type is in yours, there are 2 different sockets with 3 pins different although they can look identical other than one being purple and one being beige (the socket itself). If you're not sure, pop the current cpu out and give me the 5 digit intel reference code on it (SL7SA for instance)
