Desperately need to change my password. Is it really as simple as going to user accounts? Or will I manage to lock myself out? @Deebs

Still havent' plucked up the courage to do this, have fears of locking myself out. New question. Why has my laptop started switching itself on in the middle of the night? Just to the user screen.

You have probably changed something in the powersaver menu. Or the battery is fucked from being plugged in all the time. Or its overheating and rebooting itself.

Changing the password is easy, it wont let you fuck it up so long as you remember your new password. Just press "change password" wherever it says it. ctrl+alt+del on windows 7 and somewhere in the user controls ye olde XP.

You might have some "scheduled tasks" that have the "wake the computer up" option ticked
