Saw an article on thereg about online gaming and found a link to gamemore.co.uk who claim "We're one of the first national LAN gaming event organisers."

and

To prove its point, GameMore is running a series of group gaming sessions around the UK. The plan is that gamers will have a chance to meet and talk in the flesh, as well as play each other online. More information on that on their website.

Man, I thought that was called a LAN - "group gaming sessions".

*scratches head* haven't Mutiplay been holding LANs since 1997? I seem to recall a lot of cybercafes in the late nineties having regular LANs - so htf can someone claim to be one of the first in 2004?

Hmmm.

Which, really, they're not. But it sounds good on a webby.

Its just advertising speak...

Its like saying "we're even better" but you dont actually say what you're better than.

In this case being "one of the first" could mean being in the first 100...

Or in some cases, what you're better at.
