Kquery - anyone using it

Up until now, I've been a fan of GameSpy (I even parted with cash, way back when). Always been happy with GS, but then again, I was always happy with IE until I tried Opera.

I've previously tried ASE, and didn't like it much. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance. But, I've also run into this fella:

Anyone recommend it, or something else? What is everyone else currently using, and why?

Steam and ASE.
ASE works with all my games so it's convenient.

ive always used GS as well

i can never get steam to connect to games anymore, i get a the server list up and then my ping seems to rocket into the 1000's

refreshing the servers seems to swamp and kill my connection

If your behind a router, try setting the number of servers to be refreshed at once down to a lower number. Full refreshes will take longer, but you shouldn't be disconnected due to UDP packets

(its under options somewhere - I think I got so sick of that I dropped it to 2/3)

i can change my connection type to something lower like idsn maybe?

Its for GameSpy - if you goto tools, options. Then in the dialog box, look for
"Refresh upto XX servers simultaneously" - if you click on this option, it will give you the number of servers to refresh at once. Try lowering it from 64 (I think thats the default), to something like 10, see if that helps.

The connection type I think just adjusts things like rate, and snaps. The refresh is to counter the fact that alot of people are now behind routers (which dont like lots of quick requests from different locations)

i meant when i use steam and refresh the server list it kills my connection
