Surprised nobody else has made this topic yet.

This is a new series only up to episode 4.

The premise is simple: Retelling the story of David from the bible ( david and goliath ) in a futuristic setting.

It's amazingly well shot for a TV series and the acting is solid.
It's not preachy and it's a good series. Well worth watching if you're looking for some new stuff to watch.

Spotted this post and looked it up on the intarweb. It looks interesting but I may wait until I see if the plot goes anywhere and if it still looks good I may watch a load back to back. Cheers for the heads up :)

Looking for something new since Battlestar Galactica sailed into the sunset and watched a fair number of series 1 of Burn Notice (up to the one with Lucy Lawless, which was great fun).

I'm about 20 minutes through episode 1, and think it is fantastic so far.

Rulke, I suggest you try it again. Just finished watching the first two episodes, it is very very good. Best début episodes I have seen for any series.

It was annoying me for some reason I couldn't put my finger on. I hesitate to use the word "unrealistic" in a for a sci-fi/fantasy show but it didn't quite ring true.

HTF does one pleb soldier sneak across a fully lit no mans land into a guarded tent? And why would he do it? The guy in the trench says something like how anyone who's got within 100yards of the goliaths is a "loss" but aforementioned pleb kills it in one hit from a handheld missle launcher? Why is the front line made up of a line of stationary tanks?

The whole thing just irritated me, was very simplistic and contrived.

If you read my OP it's retelling the story of david from the bible.

Hence david vs "goliath" had to be fitted in somehow and get him close to the king ^^.

For rulke, no major plot spoilers.

That was the point though, it was david versus goliath. The whole series seems to revolve around the power that those few characters posses over others, and their ability to influence the world around them. I suppose if you cannot buy into that then it really is not for you. The 3rd and 4th episodes are based more on politics than the first 2 episodes, you may prefer them.

Yeah I got the whole david vs goliath thing, what was the point of it? I'm guessing the whole thing was supposed to establish David's heroism but I never understood why he'd just wake up and think "I'll go on a suicide mission that even if I survive will get me court marshalled!". Did he know it was the Kings son? Why is the kings son even in harms way? Why did no one see him?!

And what's the story with the tanks? Is that explained? Why does that guy say they're deadly when they're blatantly shit?

Also is the fact that later episodes are politics rather than badly done action supposed to entice me to watch? :p

why it's the kings son is explained, the fact he went after them and faced up to the tank is also explained. And explained very well. There is a lot of symbolism involved and I suppose not everyone will buy into it. The acting and character development is superb so far, the script moves along at pace.

Ahh what!? Bollocks, this was actually really good and something very different. Tv networks have no faith these days. why would they bother showing all the remaining episodes together? Ratings that bad?

Apparently ratings declined a lot from debut.
I meant they are switching air dates to saturdays not all eps at once btw ^^.

I really enjoyed this show as well. It really is one of the better shows airing right now.

Hmm.... have read a few stories about this now. It is not officially cancelled yet, but they have pulled it from the prime time slot on sundays to the graveyard slot on saturday nights. Obviously reading between the lines will tell you it will most likely not continue past season 1. Hope HBO or the like picks this up, gifv more Lovejoy!

Finally!

Yeah, I thought it was very good TV as well, maybe someone rich at a network will agree and pick it up, but I doubt it.

Heh, stick with it nath, it is very good. Best scripting I have seen for ages, characters have a lot of depth and the story arc moves at a good pace.

ECA: ep 9
was great, different side of the prince, and Culkins character just freaks me out. The look on David and Silus's face's at the end was great, their eyes were filled with sorrow.
