Anybody know of a site with one of these?

A teacher at college says she can write 90 words a minute and i said i'd beat her.

I've seen an alphabet timer so was wondering if anybody knew of a word timer to see how many words i can write in a minute.

because I keep getting told that I post utter bollox (Which I do ofc) so I try keep it to a minimum. Anyway, you guys hate me posting on here so I try not post so much.

Well, that's a nice secretary test. BUt i think anyone of us can type a hell of a lot faster, when you're not obliged to read, comprehend, copy and beware of mistakes at the same time

Around 55-65 words/minute, but then agian, i'm no native english sorta guy.

Not to mention, it takes atleast a moment to take my hand of the mouse and start the typing thingy.

Thats a pretty decent performance improvement there Raven, from 1 word a minute to 40,000.

Do the test again and if you keep up the same level of improvement you will melt your keyboard and grind your fingers down to stumps which would be interesting to see

Just over 50 words per minute on the first test...

That test is far from good anyway, it starts taking time when you press the start button wich ofcourse means you loose a second or two when moving your hand from the mouse to the keyboard, and some of those random sentences is alot harder to spell then others...
Error handeling is a whole other business, it doesnt care for errors just report that you made one or more, so if you klick start and then enter you can type infinite words per minute.

I had to do it twice though, spelt a word wrong first time

edit: lol found a bug, if you just keep pressing start test till the same sentence comes up again you can do 600+ words a minuite

Did 170 words per minute in school but now in my old days i'm around 150 words per min. but should it not be letters per minute?

Its also not ideal for such a short sentence.

Surely your average speed will increase as you get into the "flow" of typing? I know it does for me when I'm typing. Also, I can type very very fast when I'm chatting online, much faster than when I'm copying something out verbatim.

And as otehr people have said, having to press the button then start typing etc is kinda awkward. I've seen a few tests out there which handle it a bit better imo.
