just wondering ... what do you think is the minimum no. of people needed to take an undefended keep?(by player characters that is)

and i don`t mean a level 50 uber group.. take a group for example with an average level of 42 (which is roughly mid way between 35 and 50)

could it be done with 2 groups do you think? 3 maybe?

I would think 2 groups would be fine. As long as you had good balanced groups (i.e. enough healers and rezzers!) and some siege equipment.

As most guilds seem to be claiming keeps these days you may want to find out which of the weaker enemy guilds have keeps and target those. Either that or get up at 4am for a dawn raid!

`im not really interested in avoiding enemies by attacking at silly times i`m just looking at the possibility of arranging keep raids completely on the fly so to speak

my guys can easily arrange a couple of rams or more and field a full team of 8 so was just wondering realistically what we would need to field to have a hope of taking a keep

hehe rezzers and healers wouldn`t be a problem in our guild all our highests levels are Paladins or Clerics

it always seems like it`s a big keep assault or nothing it`d be great if we had say 4 or 5 small forces each attacking different keeps at thesame time

A full team of 8 high levels can easily take an undefended keep. Obviously if the keep is defended then your chances are dramatically reduced, but this is the same with any size of keep assault team. I've seen one group of 8 reduce about five groups to almost nothing. Keeps are an excellent defensive position from which to strike, and if you are lacking in high level assassins (or only have one) then you're starting off at a massive disadvantage.

That said, I've been in small parties -without- rams, without clerics and without anyone wearing plate and we managed to take two keeps no problem.

It's a lot of luck, but give it a go sometime.

With siege equipment you really don't need alot of people; hell, a igh level sorc with a BL pet and a few friends to protect him could solo the guards NPS Then you'd just need to bash the door, and preferably have an infiltrator to gank the archers. A dirt gimp makes taking the Lord down alot easier though; you could take a keep with very few people, but a bad repop could kill you (heck, a bad repop managed to wipe our mostly 50 group Never seen so many bloody guards charge at once ).

Last night, the Templars took Sursbrooke with 14 people, probably 8 or 9 of those were lvl 45+, and a couple lvl 35 or so. It was remarkably easy, and we could probably have managed with fewer. So I'd go along with the idea that a single full group of high-level people (with appropriate mix of classes) could probably take an undefended keep.

Well, last night we took Sorsbrook with 7 people too.. must be easy keep to take, Sursbrook

Not everyone was 50, neither did we do uncommonly good job on it - was bloody late and people were really tired. Took us 2 tries. With a really good and class-balanced group.. I think 6 people could do it. Less than that, I somewhat doubt it.

The minimal force for guaranteed success is something else. You can easily take a keep with 2 groups of 45+. You can also easily fail. I think the old triplespawn bug is still around. Occasionally all the guards pop in massive quantities and then you have to have overwhelming force to survive.

Aye, we did that yesterday, taking a middie keep in Hib (not DC, but cant recall its name).
Took us 11 peeps, with only Bartar and Amirder being lvl 50's, rest being 43+.
Was fun, guards were worthless but the Lord was a pain


Did i mention we did it at an ungodly hour and no-one came to its defend ?
