r_shadows turns off player shadows yes? Or all shadows. If you could find that article you mentioned Throd it would be great

Usually my Cs tweaking consisted off pushing the gfx quality as high as possible, this is the first time I've been more concerned with the game performance :/

I was acccused of having dodgy rates the other day - I assume because this guy shot me 4 times with 30 damage or something - Can rates affect how hard you are to hit? I must admit there are sometimes people who seem harder to damage than others, or am I just being paranoid?

I used 25000 80 80 when I had 300k ntl and now I have 1Mb ADSL I still use the same, as I haven't noticed any significant choke or loss? Should I be doing something else?

Lester your rates are fine. Theres loads of whining about rates at the moment, its just the self-excuses of people who cant shoot you
Also in fairness theres a thing where you can put your cmdrate (I think it is) at 5, with a high rate, and you become slightly harder to hit, but its obvious anyway as your ping appears on the scoreboard as 7 or so, calling howls of abuse from all on the server.
This is also arkward as on occasion my ping has done this, and my rates are 25000/100/100. Hey ho ...

Ahh that explains me being accused of rate hacking the other day tho. On a cable 512k connection I often get pings that unbelievably quick to E-frag servers. With less than 10 people on the server I normally ping 8-15 ms.

I normally use 15000 70 70 myself, 20000 101 101 was a nightmare on the servers I normally play on. I never hit anything
