Hmm... Kazaa is understandably better though it does have complimentary spyware. If you run Ad-Aware to remove it, Kazaa refuses to run until it's reinstalled. Cheeky feckers.

I just use Bearshare which comes with optional spyware and isn't able to control your comp.

It also improves performance by not actually finding anything you search for.

Bah! I did a search on BearShare 2.4.4 for 'Britney Spears' guaranteed to get the hits... and not one result after 5 mins. I even disabled my firewall.

What's the problem then, eh?

I get that sometimes...in fact got it so much I reinstalled it.

I use the settings 6 conns min and 8 max but you have to give it a little while to settle down.

Aha! Fixed it!

I clicked the Reset button in the Options | Connections tab. Nothing appeared to change but my hosts are now steady and I have 2526 Britney Spears-related files for my viewing pleasure.

I'll make the changes you suggest as well, though. Thank you, Mister Emb.

Personally, I've started using a version of Limewire called Cleanlime since Morpheus went down. It's a stripped down version of Limewire, created under the GPL, and it's installer weighs in at a hefty 1.5MB.

I am not going back to any version, Morpheus or Kaaza, now that Sharman Networks is in charge. Don't trust them, won't trust them.

I ended up using Xolox, from the ZeroPaid website, seems to work for me, no spyware or ads.
