From what they say in that article, it sounds like the father will be made a suspect soon as well.

The parents were guilty from the beginning whether they had anything to do with the girl going missing/leaving the building or not. They should of been locked up for neglect at the start then sort the rest out later. All imho of course.

It has made the parents very rich indeed with all the money that has been donated.

Yea - I did have a quick look for your old thread kryters to try and bump that one, but was at work at the time and the computers there make searching as painful as watching 5 hours of "confused dot com" insurance adverts back to back, so I made a new one

Perhaps the idea was to milk the media situation for all it was worth then when it all cooled down they would find the girl safe and well. Then it would be book deals, more interviews and maybe a tv series of their ordeal.

I think they probably did do it imho but the story they came up with making them look like bad parents was a good cover.

I could believe the scenario below:

Maybe they did go out for dinner leaving the kids behind, Madeline got up and did something which caused her death? In fear of losing the twins they made this whole fiasco up rather than be done for neglect etc etc etc.

Whatever happens I doubt anyone will ever know the real truth behind this.

I can't see them storing the body in a fridge (which is what you'd have to do) for a few weeks before moving it in a hire car tbh. Not with the police and press watching them.

I'm of the opinion that their child was abducted, that people are bored of the whole thing, and starting some pretty offensive speculation.

What, not wailing around in floods of tears? My impression of them is that such displays of emotion will only occur when they believe their daughter is dead.

Perhaps they're acting strange, but who wouldn't when their daughter has gone missing and they know they're ultimately to blame?

I think the situation is strange, but I think this "The parents did it" storyline is just another exciting twist for the media to play on and mass gossip-hysteria to kick in on and sounds far too much like the plotlines of several different crime shows I've seen.

And the Portuguese police sound like a pile of ****..

Plus, how tf are the parents supposed to have driven a body around in the hire car they hired after Madeleine went missing, as they supposedly have, when they've been followed every step they've taken since it was all announced?

Either way, I cba to speculate any more than that until all the facts are (supposedly) known as, to be honest, we know very little of what has gone on. All I know is people do like a bit of suspicion and intrigue and playing the blame game before all the cards are on the table, and the newspapers certainly do.

I'd rather more of the awful things that are going on in this country/Europe/the world were reported rather than having to read about this story over and over and over again in the newspapers.. They know people want more information, but they don't have it, so they print a load of tosh in the meantime..
