I've been promising to do this for years, but after a little persuasion i've finally gone ahead and written it.

Here is my guide to siege warfare, in it you'll find complete instructions to making, building and using siege weapons, when and how you should use the various types and a guide to the best siege tactics for the siturations your likely to encounter.

I hope players will find it useful, feel free to copy/paste it or link it to your guild and alliance forums or wherever you think it may be useful.

You can find a direct link to the guide on the web Here

I'll add a direct link to the txt file soon as well.

Many thanks to Javai and Vlad for the proof reading and html work and to Gobo for pushing me to do it

very very nice guide

One quick "and very minor" point.

"Anyone at all can make a portable siege weapon, you only need 1 in siegecraft (which everyone gets by default) to do it, and the siegecraft 'cap' is only 68 points which can be reached simply through making ammo."

Unless it's changed you need to actually get a trade skill to get this 1 point in seigecraft. It's only a 20 second run to goth to get it, but lots of people often arrive at the keep and then yell, oops I can't make it. It also helps to make sure you have the tools.. hammer etc before setting off.

Everyone starts with basic crafting these days, so everyone has 1 in all crafts (except SC and alchy).

Usually one of the big problems is : "uhmmm, anyone got a sewing kit?" ohh and a hammer too?" ;)

Nice guide. A small point, though, 30% faster siege with Warlord is nearly 43% more damage over time, not 30%.

random note: if you don't have a warlord available, get a siege guild banner (cleric/heretic/minstrel) - it's a 20% increase instead of the 30% but it's better than nowt.

Testing has shown it is approximately 20% better then nowt!!!

Oh god, even the mere thought of it sends shivvers down my spine!

I'd need far more time to play and learn every little trick there is again before i'd feel confident rewriting this. Unfortunately i'm just not involved in siege play enough like I used to be to write it confidently knowing I covered all bases, though I still love it and wish I had the time.
