K700i, Bluetooth and java apps woes.

ngh.

I've just got a new k700i and I've been trying to hook it up via my new usb bluetooth device I got today. So far, it works ok - I can send and receive vids/images/pics etc. The problem is, I can't install any jar files. I can copy them across to the "Other" folder but I can't run the apps from there, and I can't move them to the apps/games folder. I've trawled the web and SE's site looking for software to allow me to do this but I've found nothing.

So far the only way I'm able to do this is by browsing my pc's files from my phone and downloading the games from there. Needless to say browsing 300 jar files from a mobile is a little difficult, plus it has loads of file length/directory size limits.

Is there a way I can just dump jar files on my phone the same way I can dump pictures/mp3's/vids etc?

Oh and another thing - this bloody yakumo usb bluetooth device has put a "My Bluetooth Places" icon on the desktop that will not be removed, anyone know how to deal with that? It's really rather bloody annoying (it won't delete, and I've looked in the software for "remove icon")

TIA

edit: crap - just realised I put it in the wrong subforum, can't seem to move it :|

The way I normally do it is to go into the my bluetooth places folder, search for devices, then select the phone and it gives you some options of what you want to do, object push is the one you want. However, chances are this is just how my bluetooth dongle works, so this might not be of any help.

Most likely the jar files have their own directory, hard coded into the firmware.

With regard to the desktop icon, tweakXP will sort that out for you.

Are you sure the phone doesn't need jad files aswell to run the jars, iirc some phones use the jad file to launch the jar, others just use the jar file to run them.

Hrm, in my bluetooth places I've got "OBEX Object Push" but clicking that gets it to try to swap business cards - doesn't let me try to upload games.

Cheers Tom, I'll try out TweakXP.

Jinglebells - I've managed to get a few games on already, none have needed the JAD file yet.

edit: Good god!

Right, I'd like to know how the HELL I was supposed to know that all you have to do is drag the file over the phone icon in "My Bluetooth Places" and it installs it fine >:|

RARGH! (Thanks for the help guys :))

Nath - I think Microsoft's free "TweakUI" will also do desktop icon removal duties for you - TweakXP is officially a retail product.

As for the Java, I possess the same phone but haven't tried out what you're describing yet, sorry!
