Will a luri ranger be better of using a piecre weapon rather than a blade?

I know there are quite few discussions about ranger's spec before, but I just wonder higher lvl rangers out there, are u all happy with your spec after the respec?

When the respec patch came in i tested blades on Gorre and decided to stay 44 pierce.

pierce I think as they are 50/50 str/dex based.

Luri's high natural Dex score makes pierce the most logical option, however, high dps blades used for PA can do a hell of a lot of damage if specced right.

IMO, spec whatever you want, use the weapon you want, and enjoy the game. Never let anyone tell you that your choice of style is wrong, its your choice, not theirs.

Since DEX is Ranger and NS's primary Stat, and STR is only tertiary, I would suggest you use pierce.

Example - roll a ranger, put 10 pts into STR,CON and DEX...
@lvl 50 stats unbuffed are -:
STR 65 CON 50 DEX 135 QUI 103

Pierce uses 50% STR+50% DEX = 32.5 + 67.5 = 100
Blades uses 100% STR = 65

Since you would normally as a stealthing class max your DEX b4 STR with items - it would seem you would do more damage...but its up to you.

I'm not saying that piercing styles are better than blades...just trying to show the effectiveness of your stats on your weapon style. :swords:

Don't remember how I put the points when I built my ranger, but difinately put 10 in dex and the rest were in str, con and quickness(only 5). Since I get quite few blade drops in the vault, I chose to use blade (save some money to buy weapons) but now I really want to try pierce. However, I think my ranger can only do single respec (after 1.52), I guess I just need to be really sure my final spec will be if I want to respec blade to pierce now.

Prolly will be my final spec (with 2 points left)

but I'm wondering again
a) is 30 in stealth higher enough to let me sneak around?
b) greatbow doing more damage than normal RB? is it slower as well?

a) not really, but with realm adds and stat item +'s you can get it to high 40's maybe even 50, that will be good enuff.

b) yes and yes, generally speaking.

Also a point to consider is the armor of your most likely opponents. It is the reason i go blades for my ranger.
